The Senior Business Development Manager – Retail Grocery East identifies, evaluates, and acquires new customers within an assigned geographic territory. Develops and executes account selling strategies and manages all steps of the customer identification and acquisition process from initial contact through sales engagement and deal close. May attend sales, industry, and other events to build a sales pipeline and keep abreast of developments. Research accounts and generates or follows through on sales leads. Leverages various selling techniques to meet sales and revenue goals. 

  • Performs Business Development across targeted customers and/or geographic region.
  • Closes new business deals according to targets, objectives, and plans.
  • Supports the implementation process by maintaining customer contact, answering service billing questions and achieving a smooth and successful transition to account management post-implementation.
  • Provides accurate sales forecasts and reports to management in a timely and consistent manner.
  • Uses established metrics and dashboards to report on the effectiveness of Business Development executions, promotions, new product introductions and performance.
  • Sets up and delivers product and/or service presentations and other actions designed to increase sales.
  • Cross-sells and up-sells based on understanding of customer business need.
  • Drives and manages successful sales / channel marketing campaigns and events.
  • Develops new prospects beyond their immediate goals and opens opportunities for DN.
  • Cultivates strong relationships with DN Sales, Marketing, Product and other business leaders and stakeholders.
  • Leverages sales and product expertise to influence prospect’s decisions and performance.

Required Qualifications

  • Diploma or equivalent work experience required.
  • Minimum of 6-8 years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience in Business Development or Account Management
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Grocery or General Merchandise Retail and the utilization of technology within the environment required. 
  • Selling retail technology solutions, including hardware, software, and services.
  • Hunter mentality, farming new business.
  • Manage funnel from prospecting to closing on the sale.
  • Consultative sales experience with complex solution design is desired.
  • Exhibit skills, characteristics, traits and work habits that greatly enhance the likelihood of success ex: solution-oriented and entrepreneurial mindset, time and prospect management, customer empathy.
  • Exceptional communication, presentation, strategic planning, problem solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Demonstrated relationship building skills at all levels of the organization, including senior executive levels.
  • Proficient in all MS Office products with an emphasis on Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Teams.
  • Possess experience with CRM software, such as Salesforce to maximize opportunities.
  • Proven success in high quota carrying position.
  • Ability to travel up to 50% of the time.

Preferred Qualifications

  • General knowledge of Diebold Nixdorf products and services is a plus.
  • Knowledge of Software and Service solution sales would be advantageous.
  • Territory: Prefer candidate reside on East Coast. Territory covers: Quincy, MA, Keene, NH, Carlisle, PA and Salisbury, NC.

Salary Range: $125,000 to $145,000. Actual compensation for this role will depend on several factors including your qualifications, skills, competencies, geographic location, internal equity, and relevant experience. You will also be eligible for compensation under the Company’s Sales Incentive Plan, subject to the rules governing the plan and the metrics established on an annual basis by the plan.
