Overview

The Senior Director, Product Management will lead a matrixed team to drive commercial market success for Cotiviti’s payment integrity offerings. This role will lead the definition and execution of Cotiviti’s market strategy for client solutions including Data Mining (DM), Contract Compliance (CC) and Coordination of Benefits (COB). This individual will understand and prioritize market needs, perform competitive analysis, engage experts within and outside our organization, lead client Product Advisory Boards, define solutions for new market needs, and lead delivery and product launches to expand our client value proposition and advance Cotiviti’s market position.

 

Reporting to the SVP, Product Management, this individual will have ownership and accountability for product vision, product definition, packaging, and market success for DM/CC and COB solutions— including prepayment evolution strategy. The successful candidate will demonstrate a unique blend of leadership, product and market domain expertise, business acumen, creativity, business judgment, entrepreneurial spirit, industry knowledge, and analytical knowledge. This role will lead a matrix of Product Managers and supporting R&D staff; focused on defining and leading delivery of product features required to execute the market strategy.

Responsibilities

The Sr. Product Director will lead a cross-sectional, matrixed team in implementing and overseeing a customer- and sales-driven approach to building and launching new features, capabilities and offerings into the marketplace. Key responsibilities include:

 

  • Vision: Leverages his/her subject matter expertise to provide input into Cotiviti’s strategic plan for the DM/CC/COB portfolio; collaborates with executive leadership to develop targets for annual booking, revenue, expenses, and client satisfaction. Is an evangelist for the Voice of the Customer in product management.
  • Strategy: Drives direction for product management. Responsible for ensuring appropriate prioritization of candidate product and service investments.
  • Product management: Leads cross-functional teams (Product, Marketing, Sales, BU Operations, R&D) to develop and launch enhancements to our solutions portfolio. Aligns with Platform Product Management teams and processes (e.g. SAFe Agile) as well as BU and R&D resources to ensure delivery of capabilities. Defines success criteria and reviews product performance against expectations and facilitates or influences changes to product portfolio to improve competitive position and optimal product performance.
  • Go to Market: Establishes overall Go to Market strategy for all products within the strategic solutions set (DM/CC, COB.) Owns definition of customer experience for End-to-End solutions. Leads completion and upkeep of R2M (Ready to Market) and R2S (Ready to Sell) deliverables and supports GTM training with Marketing.
  • Team leadership: Collaborates with Launch Project Managers to ensure delivery of operational aspects of programs. Evaluates launch programs and assists SVP, Product Management in continuously improving processes for Product Management. Assists BU leaders in defining core processes and staffing needs to support new solutions.
  • Coaching: Is a champion for the discipline of product management practices, ensuring that teams have essential tools, processes, and skill sets to build out product and service roadmaps that align with Cotiviti’s strategic and operational plans.
  • Growth: Accountable for ensuring Cotiviti solutions support profitability, efficiency, and growth targets. Works closely with Marketing and GTM Teams (Sales, Client Engagement) to ensure Cotiviti products are winning in the market and meeting growth goals. Asks good questions to fully understand market needs and engages matrixed teams to solve those challenges. Assists in the development of pricing strategies to maximize overall returns.
  • Quality: Works closely with technology, operations, and senior leadership to ensure releases are of the highest quality, and that his/her team can demonstrate progress against quality goals through clear metrics. · Hire, develop, coach, lead and retain top-tier talent, with a focus on building and improving a team and culture that is able to assist in employing best in class practices to support and drive high levels of internal and external customer satisfaction.   • Responsible for driving the development of the product within assigned development team(s) by creating and maintaining detailed user story backlogs. 
  • Contribute to product planning and execution oversight throughout the product lifecycle and across the product portfolio, including: gathering and prioritizing product and customer requirements to help define the product vision and program backlog.
  • Coordinate activities and manage interdependencies across the product portfolio to drive consistency, reduce time-to-market, improve analytic models, improve operational efficiency, and drive innovation.
  • Review, validate, and accept stories into the baseline product.
  • Prioritize stories based on user value and close collaboration with VP, and Director, Product Management, on overall strategic roadmap. Manage and apprise stakeholders of the prioritization decisions.
  • Work with BA and developers to refine requirements before and during sprint.
  • Attend all required meetings (daily Scrum, sprint planning, grooming, sprint review, etc.
  • Provide product guidance and support for Operations, Account Management, Clinical Services, Client Services, etc. Provide technical sales support when requested.
  • Work closely with other departments to ensure that all new product specific releases are of the highest quality.
  • Provide product expertise and input into internal and external communications, release notes, training and implementation collateral.
  • Promote a professional working environment that encourages staff participation in the development of product and software that is collaborative, collegial and utilizes current trends and best practices · Work with Product Advisory Council (PACs)

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, computer science, information technology, healthcare, management, data analytics, or related fields. Experience may be substituted for education. Master of Business Administration degree preferred.
  • Demonstrated success defining market strategy and leading product management for successful market-facing products. Pragmatic Marketing or other similar certification strongly desired.
  • Demonstrated success defining product roadmaps, prioritizing features based on market value and leading development and launch of new products and product enhancements.
  • Minimum 8 years’ experience, with increasing levels of responsibility and oversight, managing Product Management, Operations, or Professional Services teams.
  • Minimum 6 years’ experience preferred in healthcare industry with previous leadership experience in appropriate domain, strong personnel management, presentation skills, customer (internal/external) problem diagnostics and solution design.
  • Preferred experience and subject matter expertise within Cotiviti core solutions portfolios: Payment Integrity (Claim Editing, Data Mining, DRG Validation or related offerings.)
  • Proactive leader with proven experience in strategic and tactical leadership with the ability to pursue and understand cutting edge technologies.
  • The intellect and energy to excel in a complex and ever-changing environment, coupled with the poise and ability to act calmly in high-pressure, high-stress situations.
  • Proven experience in growth-oriented businesses in the healthcare information and analytics space with strong competencies in developing and leading product development and strategy.
  • Excellent “coach” who is results oriented and can build and motivate high performance teams.
  • Strong working knowledge of the healthcare system, data analytics, product management/development and/or health care operations is required with a minimum of 7-10 years of experience working with payers, providers, and/or employers or with a health care data analytics vendor.
  • Proven ability to work closely with the business and directly with customers/prospects to understand and translate business needs and customer requirements into product specifications.
  • Must be comfortable with technology and software development lifecycle.
  • Strong project management, interpersonal, communication, negotiation and problem solving skills.
  • Must be self-motivated and passionate about creating application and workflow solutions for diverse and challenging health care problems, including the ability to understand user persona needs across different client types and translate those needs into specific product requirements that will deliver customer value.
  • General understanding of database structure and have proven experience working with healthcare data.
  • General understanding of data analytics applications and workflow solutions and have relevant experience with solutions related to population health analytics/business intelligence.
  • Team leadership in a matrixed organization experience is required, with proven ability to lead initiative and plan activities and resources. Strong influencing skills.
  • Experience in Agile methodologies (SCRUM preferred).
  • Ability to work with offshore development team

Base compensation ranges from $160,000.00 to $180,000.00. Specific offers are determined by various factors, such as experience, education, skills, certifications, and other business needs.
