The Netherlands is a mature fuel cards market with an established and proven model of working with Field Sales Account Managers who are responsible for the acquisition of new customers and management of existing customer relationships.
This model has been in existence for over 30 years with a significant amount of new sales each year.
We have a team of four Field Sales Account Managers (including this role) based in the field who manage their own territory.
The Field Sales Account Managers will be set a target each year for new customer acquisition to achieve both volume and the associated revenue; it is the primary objective of each account manager to achieve these targets.
To ensure the delivery of the annual new customer targets, the expectations are to ensure the establishment and management of a healthy sales pipeline that is constantly moving to achieve the core KPI’s around new prospect / customer meetings, proposals made, applications to credit and ultimately new active customers.

How you’ll make an impact
- Contribute to the setting of the sales strategy within the territory, including go to market strategies and identification of targeted market segments
- Identification and acquiring of new customers through a multitude of prospecting activities to agreed targets
- Own and nurture the customer relationship for the initial 6 months post customer acquisition before the customer is transferred to the Account Management Team
- Grow customers spend with WEX through development of relationships
- Adherence to the defined Sales Process
- Maintain a sales pipeline to ensure there are sufficient live prospects being worked to ensure the delivery of new business targets
- Pipeline and CRM systems hygiene ensuring that all data captured is accurate and kept up to date
- Cross functional collaboration between different departments to ensure the best customer experience
- Supporting sales colleagues, Field Sales and Telesales in the acquisition of new customers outside of own pipeline
- Revenue initiatives to increase the profitability of new and existing customers managed by the agents
- Cross sell across our portfolio of products and services to new customers through a defined customer lifecycle process
Experience you’ll bring
- A professional salesperson who is eager to get business
- Must have a full driving license
- Fully fluent in English
- Would be advantageous if fluent in another European language i.e. French
- Previous experience of working in individual sales experience in a B2B environment
- A collaborative individual with the ability to manage the balance between the operational requirements of the business whilst achieving sales targets
- Familiar with CRM systems like Salesforce and MS office
- Able to juggle many moving parts and orchestrate deals and long-term plans that align with a mutually beneficial strategy.
- Acquires and develops information about WEX products, services and competitors
- Develops better ways of meeting customer needs
- Monitors external environment
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.
