Job Description Summary

Cushman & Wakefield Energy and Sustainability Services team is looking for an experienced Associate Director of ESG whose primary responsibility is to oversee and accelerate progress and performance on the environmental, social and governance (ESG) goals and targets for our investor services clients’ portfolio(s) comprised of existing buildings across office, retail, multifamily, and industrial properties.

Job Description

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITES:

  • Develop and execute ESG management strategy across client’s portfolio, working directly with individual property teams
  • Implement ESG comprehensive programs to reach objectives.
  • Act as the subject matter expert to educate and guide key stakeholders on energy and sustainability topics and requests.
  • Develop and enhance systems and processes for delivering best practice sustainability performance and use of utility/sustainability management systems for monitoring and/or reporting purposes.
  • Responsible for the successful delivery of all activities related to achieving client sustainability goals. Projects to include sustainability advisory services (ESG reporting frameworks including GRI, CDP, TCFD, SASB, SBTi, strategic sustainability roadmap development, Net Zero consulting) for investor clients
  • Consistently demonstrate subject matter expertise on energy performance, embodied carbon, health and wellness, water efficiency, indoor environmental quality, materials selection, zero waste, policies and programs, and overall sustainability in the built environment.
  • Provide leadership in sustainability consulting for clients across the Cushman & Wakefield platform.
  • Represent Cushman & Wakefield in local, regional, and national industry/public forums and with clients as a subject matter expert and representative of the firm.
  • Establish ESG data collection and processes for communicating to various groups
  • Develop ESG dashboard for tracking and reporting progress against objectives; prepare regular updates for clients and industry filings (such as GRESB)
  • Access current ESG policies and processes, identify gaps to industry best practice and drive improvement
  • Support our Investor clients as a single point of contact (SPOC) with reporting of ESG metrics
  • Develop and manage reporting calendar and coordination of reporting requirements to meet our clients’ specific requirements
  • Maintain awareness of global ESG trends, tools and metrics and act as a leader establishing data driven ESG goals, milestones and metrics
  • Organizational champion for ESG program, which includes educating and communicating expectations throughout
  • Provide strategic leadership, day-to-day project oversight, and management supervision over assigned sustainability projects and project teams
  • Actively lead and manage in the preparation of sustainability and energy management proposals
  • Establish and maintain client focus through performance goals, deliverables, reports, and value-added services
  • Oversee the integration of sustainability best practices into the daily operations of Cushman & Wakefield Identify strategic partnerships and alliances with national energy and sustainability providers and vendors
  • Develop new programs to educate and engage tenants, property management, senior management, and building ownership of sustainability efforts and projects
  • Contribute to the growth of the Sustainability Services practice by proactively working with offices/markets/clients and building relationships across Cushman & Wakefield
  • Utilize contacts in the commercial real estate industry to identify new business opportunities, including key accounts and portfolio projects

KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree; Sustainable Building, Real Estate, Architecture, Engineering, or related field
  • 5+ years professional experience in Corporate Sustainability Management, Real Estate, Sustainability, or related fields
  • Project Management Experience
  • Professional credentials and licenses such as LEED AP, CEM, etc.
  • Ability to manage, manipulate and analyze utility billing and usage data (energy, water, waste)
  • Proficiency with green building and building health certification rating systems including LEED, ENERGY STAR, Fitwel, WELL, etc.
  • Proficiency with reporting frameworks including GRESB, GRI, and UNPRI
  • Experience with key reporting frameworks including TCFD, CDP, SASB and GRI, among others
  • Understanding a wide landscape of regulatory policy and compliance requirements
  • Demonstrated success as an effective manager and leader
  • Experience managing relationships and setting expectations with asset managers, property managers, and project teams
  • Excellent quantitative skills and established analytical ability
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, LEED Arc, LEED Online, and ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager
  • Experience/familiarity with data management tools such as Measurable
  • Proven record of providing excellent internal and external customer service
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and technical presentation ability 
  • The qualified candidate will be detail oriented, able to handle multiple projects simultaneously, extremely professional, and customer service oriented
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Excellent public speaking skills (conferences, meetings with internal global teams and clients)

The compensation that will be offered to the successful candidate will depend on factors such as whether the position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement, the geographic area in which the work will be performed, market pay rates in that area, and the candidate’s experience and qualifications.


The company will not pay less than minimum wage for this role.


The compensation for the position is: $140,250.00 - $165,000.00
