Position Overview

A deal team within RGA’s private debt and equity team is comprised of a Deal Lead and typically two other team members. A Director supports the underwriting process across origination, structure, due diligence, negotiation, and legal documentation.  Key responsibilities range from due diligence to preparing approval memos, completing financial analysis, research, and models supporting underwriting and credit decisions, as well as ongoing monitoring of assigned portfolio investments. 

Responsibilities

A Director, Private Debt & Equity - Investments will:

  • Serve as a transaction secondary as described above. Transactions include middle market financing mergers and acquisitions, recapitalizations and providing growth capital typically ranging in size from $10 million to $50 million.

  • Assumes a meaningful role in the underwriting process including supporting formulation of the investment thesis and identification of key risks and diligence items for new investment opportunities

  • Responsible for the preparation and completion of approval memos, financial models as well as providing assistance to the deal lead with presentation of the investment recommendation

  • Conducts recurring investment monitoring activities including analysis and reporting for assigned investments while utilizing client relationships, portfolio management, and company financial data systems and resources

  • Assists in strategic relationship development across private equity partners and industry trade groups

  • Assumes an active role with legal documentation review and negotiation

  • Responsible for ensuring a smooth funding process and ongoing data integration with the operations teams

  • Judiciously synthesizes data and content for management reports

  • Perform other duties, as required

Requirements

Qualifications & Experience:

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree plus 8-10+ years of relevant work experience, such as leveraged lending, investment banking, or private equity

Preferred: 

  • MBA or other relevant post graduate degrees or designations

Skills & Abilities:

Required:

  • Highly advanced understanding of financial, investment, and market concepts including but not limited to capital structure, valuation, covenants, and relative value

  • Highly advanced knowledge of leveraged financed market including private equity and the middle market lending environment

  • Highly advanced interpersonal skills to build strong relationships both within and outside of the Company

  • Highly advanced presentation skills to advance investment decisions and strategy discussions

  • Highly advanced oral and written communication skills demonstrating ability to share and convey knowledge

  • Ability to set goals and handle multiple tasks, clients, and projects simultaneously

  • Ability to work well within a team environment

  • Ability to liaise with individuals across a wide variety of operational, functional, and technical disciplines

  • Ability to train and develop junior team members

  • Savvy in the use of relevant tools and technologies

Compensation Range:

$175,650.00 - $261,600.00 Annual

Base pay varies depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience and market location. In addition, RGA provides an annual bonus plan that includes all roles and some positions are eligible for participation in our long-term equity incentive plan. RGA also maintains a full range of health, retirement, and other employee benefits.
