Meta designs, builds, leases, and operates the most innovative and efficient data centers in the world. Meta is seeking a visionary Director of Site Development to lead the strategic growth and management of our global data center footprint, delivering cutting-edge, industry-leading solutions that accelerate our AI initiatives and fuel business success. This role has overall global responsibility for the data center supply portfolio and leading the team that manages multiple dimensions of capacity planning and solves including: new site location strategy, land development, negotiations, leasing strategy, ongoing management of existing data centers and expansions, mitigation of environmental impacts at our data centers and surrounding community, and management of permitting and other approvals needed to successfully operate our growing fleet of data centers.Director of Site Development Responsibilities
  • This role is accountable for ensuring that Meta's Data Center Site Strategy can meet the growing capacity needs from its core business as well as support the step function change we are navigating through for our AI initiatives. It involves strategically planning, collaborating and executing with multiple XFN teams across Infra.
  • Define and drive Meta’s overall Capacity Development strategy to unlock capacity flexibility and accelerate business growth in response to emerging needs around AI
  • Manage Meta’s global capacity supply portfolio including developing the strategic direction for each of our regions so that we can optimize for company goals
  • Planning, execution, and delivery of Meta’s Site Development strategy to meet the data center capacity within each geographical region while ensuring operational targets are met or exceeded
  • Grow and lead a global team of site selection, real estate, and environmental professionals dedicated to locating, developing, and managing Facebook’s global data center fleet
  • Collaborate with key leaders across design, engineering, construction, network, and legal to develop the strategic plan needed to execute against the company’s aggressive capacity targets
  • Guide team members on overall strategic approach to developing new capacity while mitigating risk and ensuring that sufficient contingency plans are in place
  • Accountable for data center supply pipeline and delivering on capacity targets while minimizing cost and optimizing for flexibility and optionality
  • Ensure that existing data center locations can operate and expand successfully
  • Collaborate with operational teams to ensure high uptime, capacity availability, flexibility with cost efficiency
  • Represent Facebook in meetings with executives from potential suppliers, governments, regulatory agencies, and other stakeholders
