Overview of Position

The Director of Accounting, Service Delivery is a key leadership role in the Premium Accounting Services (PAS) team leading moderate to large functional initiatives in support of service delivery optimization, automation, and operational excellence. The director will partner with cross-functional leadership in Finance, Lines of Business (LOB) and IT to successfully deliver moderate to large client implementations, conversions, accounting control/system enhancements and automation while driving transformation and improvements in the PAS function. The director will assume responsibility for the delivery of work product and performance for their assigned function.

What will be my responsibilities for this position?

Project Leadership 50%

  • Lead multiple functional and enterprise projects of moderate to large scale.

  • Be accountable for delivering project deliverables with minimal supervision.

  • Organize and lead cross-functional teams, coordinate resource acquisition, and identify necessary skills.

  • Define responsibilities, assign tasks, and track task completion.

  • Ensure alignment with established corporate standards and methodologies (e.g., Agile).

  • Prepare written documentation (project plans, risk plans, etc.).

  • Effectively manage project risks with documented mitigation strategies.

  • Ensure project plans, scope, schedules, budgets, and deliverables align with goals.

Solution Generation and Analysis 20%

  • Analyze workflows and systems for continuous process improvement and automation.

  • Develop and implement metrics to measure recommended solutions’ effectiveness.

  • Understand company policies and implications of solution alternatives.

  • Collaborate with on-shore and off-shore resources to analyze workflows, procedures, and systems.

  • Identify and resolve process deficiencies while maintaining accounting control standards.

  • Leverage industry best practices for business process automation.

  • Systematically address complex issues, considering cross-functional implications.

  • Recommend actions to improve efficiency, productivity, and return on investment.

  • Track issues, research options, and make informed recommendations.

Operational Excellence 20%:

  • Manage day-to-day work activities of team members.

  • Prioritize and ensure accuracy of work products (e.g., billing, payments, reconciliations).

  • Provide overall support to the team, answering questions and resolving problems.

  • Ensure complete, accurate, and timely financial guidance and filings.

  • Proactively manage changes in regulatory requirements.

  • Serve as a subject matter expert in the area of responsibility.

  • Anticipate and manage future resource needs, skill sets, and technologies.

  • Align with business changes to ensure seamless transitions.

  • Act as the primary liaison between internal and external stakeholders.

  • Monitor performance and quality metrics, resolving issues and escalations.

  • Use appropriate risk management and audit frameworks effectively.

Effective Communication and Leadership 10%

  • Excels in managing teams, ensuring compliance, and fostering effective communication to drive successful project outcomes.

  • Communicate with peer groups, management, and senior leadership within the organization.

  • Facilitate team participation, conflict resolution, and consensus building.

  • Present thought-provoking questions to stimulate discussion among team members.

  • Deliver difficult messages to project sponsors, owners, and team members.

  • Handle multiple assignments concurrently.

  • Escalate issues to resolution with influence.

  • Effectively use various communication types (email, letter, presentation, report) and media (video, written, voice, etc.).

  • Foster an environment of clear communication across sites and functional areas.

  • Regularly meet with business owners/sponsors and cross-functional teams.

Direct Reports

  • This position may have direct reports and will be responsible for orchestrating the work of others to successfully deliver initiatives, business and operational objectives.

Financial Responsibility

  • This position has no direct financial responsibility, but is responsible for monitoring, tracking, and reporting on financial activity related to their team.

10% Travel

What are the requirements needed for this position?

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Supply Chain or related field.

  • 10 years of project management, process improvement or audit experience in a large corporation

Skills:

  • Requires strong oral, written, and presentation skills to manage communication with various levels of stakeholders.

  • Requires the ability to lead with influence, collaboration and diplomacy.

  • Experience in leading cross functional teams and promoting collaboration and teamwork.

  • Experience utilizing project management tools and techniques.

  • Experience with Six Sigma, process optimization or automation concepts (e.g. RPA, AI)

  • Experience in managing multiple projects simultaneously, and meeting tight deadlines.

What other skills/experience would be helpful to have?

  • Minimum 5 years in Accounting, Finance or Audit.

  • Minimum 5 years of experience facilitating the development and implementation of business initiatives and projects, based on management objectives.

  • Deep understanding of Accounting and Finance terminology.

  • Exceptional relationship-building experience with the ability to listen, build rapport and credibility with stakeholders.

  • Energy, focus, assertiveness, and diplomacy. 

  • Highly developed communication skills in writing, speaking, and presenting to manage communication with all stakeholders.

Pay Range:

$99,200.00 - $165,600.00

Any posted pay range considers a wide range of compensation factors, including candidate background, experience and work location, while also allowing for salary growth within the position.
