Job Description:

Role Summary/Purpose:

In this role you will report to the Chief Procurement Officer and will be responsible for leading the Supplier Management Program, Assessments, and Surveillance, across the entire Bank.  You will have direct oversight for a global team responsible for supplier monitoring, Risk and Issue management, training, regulatory and audit response, and supplier risk assessments.   You will partner with relevant governance and control functions across the Bank, including Sourcing, Source to Pay, Legal, Compliance, Operational Risk, Internal Audit, Supervisory Affairs and Information Security to ensure suppliers are in full compliance with internal policies and external requirements, and ongoing oversight can be consistently evidenced. Additionally, you will be responsible for re-imagining the Supplier Management Program across the Bank, including the relative roles and responsibilities, to ensure appropriate alignment to the Bank’s strategic vision, controllership, execution strategy, and ways to improve and drive consistency throughout the process

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Providing leadership, guidance, and support to a team of supplier management analysts, specialists, and leaders, to manage adherence to the Supplier Risk Management program for third party relationships across the bank
  • Refining the cross-functional engagement model designed to develop and sustain long-standing relationships with approved vendors, including establishing and implementing standards by which to assess the controls, regulatory compliance, and performance of approved vendors, ensuring consistent application across the Bank
  • Identifies new/emerging risks applicable to third parties and incorporate them into the program, including risks associated with fourth parties
  • Develops qualitative and quantitative monitoring and reporting of third-party risks at an enterprise level.
  • Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of regulatory requirements that govern third party risk management, and maintain the Bank’s compliance at all times
  • Conduct targeted risk reviews of business unit compliance (aligned with 2LOD) with the third-party risk management program and policy and recommends actions to address any noted issues.
  • Serves as an advisor, across the business, on third party risk best practices, processes, and regulatory requirements.  Participating in relevant risk committees and working groups.
  • Providing the primary interface to the Bank’s regulators for periodic updates and coordinating the response to regulatory examinations and inquiries, working in conjunction with Supervisory Affairs
  • Functioning as the Process owner for Supplier Management, Supplier Monitoring and Supplier Risk Assessment L3 processes, including updating all Policy, Procedure and Standard Operating Procedure documents that define the governance for the Supplier Management Program
  • Escalating and reporting identified risk events and/or supplier concerns to senior management, including the Management Committee, ERMC, ORSC, individual ELT members, Source to Pay management, and Functional Designees using a variety of metrics and reports relevant to each constituent
  • Ensuring that Supplier Managers, Functional Surveillance Specialists, and Supplier Assessment Specialists have adequate training and regular awareness communications to strongly perform their roles
  • Reviewing and approving select supplier risk events, typically in the form of formal Risk Acceptances
  • Definition and execution of Supplier Management and reporting tools for transparency, risk management, and decision making throughout entire supplier lifecycle
  • Establishing supplier performance standards and suggesting improvements
  • In partnership with Sourcing and the Source to Pay organization, establishing and executing against a supplier strategy to optimize supplier mix, identifying growth areas, and managing supply chain risks

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree and experience in Business Management, Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Operational Risk Management or equivalent
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in a leadership role with a proven track record of strong leadership which includes coaching, mentoring and performance development
  • In lieu of a degree, minimum 11 years of experience in a leadership role with a proven track record of strong leadership which includes coaching, mentoring and performance development
  • Working knowledge of regulatory guidance pertaining to third-party risk as well as risk control programs
  • Previous work experience as a vendor manager, or in an operational risk  or sourcing function

Desired Characteristics:

  • Experience with financial services regulatory expectations and have lead a supplier management program

  • Demonstrate strong risk management mindset and behavior
  • Strong presentation and communication skills and experience interacting with senior business executives
  • Proven experience partnering, collaborating, and influencing across a large multilayered organization at all levels
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills; the ability to effectively communicate workflow processes and policies with vendors will be an added advantage
  • Quick decision making and problem-solving skills

Grade/Level: 14

The salary range for this position is 150,000.00 - 250,000.00 USD Annual and is eligible for an annual bonus based on individual and company performance.

Actual compensation offered within the posted salary range will be based upon work experience, skill level or knowledge.

Salaries are adjusted according to market in CA, NY Metro and Seattle.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • You must be 18 years or older

  • You must have a high school diploma or equivalent

  • You must be willing to take a drug test, submit to a background investigation and submit fingerprints as part of the onboarding process

  • You must be able to satisfy the requirements of Section 19 of the Federal Deposit Insurance Act.

  • New hires (Level 4-7) must have 9 months of continuous service with the company before they are eligible to post on other roles.  Once this new hire time in position requirement is met, the associate will have a minimum 6 months’ time in position before they can post for future non-exempt roles.  Employees, level 8 or greater, must have at least 18 months’ time in position before they can post.  All internal employees must consistently meet performance expectations and have approval from your manager to post (or the approval of your manager and HR if you don’t meet the time in position or performance expectations).
