LivaNova Neuromodulation:

As pioneers of the VNS (Vagus Nerve Stimulation) Therapy® system, LivaNova continues to advance medical device solutions for patients affected by Drug-Resistant Epilepsy (DRE) and Difficult-to-Treat Depression (DTD).  There are 3 million people in the U.S. alone and one on three people with epilepsy are drug resistant.  People with severe seizures have, on average, a shorter life expectancy and an increased risk of cognitive impairment particularly if the seizures developed in early childhood.  VNS Therapy for DRE is delivered through a device that sends mild pulses to the vagus nerve at regular intervals throughout the day in an effort to prevent seizures

RESPONSIBILITY AND AUTHORITY 

The responsibility of this position is to ultimately achieve the sales expectations of the assigned territory. Success is realized by building solid customer relationships through gaining trust. This trust will be built through strong clinical support and through adding value by being a consultative partner to our Neurosurgeon and Neurologist customers. This position requires a Patient First mentality and approach. Strong product/technical/clinical knowledge, as well as following a targeted customer call plan, and developing a solid territory plan will be necessary. The keys to success will lead to more people who are suffering from epilepsy receiving our VNS Therapy™, and a chance for a better quality of life. This position has an education component to it and is also responsible for managing the business aspects of the Western Canada Region. Includes: inventory, executing the purchasing transaction, and negotiating agreements between LivaNova and our Customers.   

PRIMARY ACTIVITIES 

  • Develop a solid territory business plan to achieve or exceed sales objectives and be accountable daily for the territory.
  • Build strong customer relationships.
  • Attend implants and follow-ups to provide clinical/technical support at the 10 Comprehensive Epilepsy Centers in the West Region- this requires travel between Vancouver (Victoria/Kelowna), Calgary, Edmonton, Saskatoon, and Winnipeg.  Conduct consultative sales discussions with Neurosurgeons, Epileptologists/Neurologists, and Nurses leading to patient identifications.
  • Create surgical waitlists by driving referrals – and where possible find solutions for expanding surgical capacity.
  • Educate physicians, trainees, nurses, and when requested, patients. 
  • Demonstrate outstanding product knowledge and a drive to be curious and continuously learn.
  • Complete administrative requirements on time and accurately. (weekly sales and expense reports)
  • Maintain company compliance standards involving ethical and moral character while professionally representing the company.
  • Perform other duties as may be required by management.

ADDITIONAL ACTIVITIES

  • Create and manage Programs (educational, promotional, sales data etc.) in the territory.
  • Attend Scientific Conferences, and Customer Events – (within and outside the West Region)
  • The position will require some work outside of normal working hours and weekend.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

  • This position may require extensive business travel of 40% or more. Travel by air mostly and some driving. The position requires a vehicle (LVN reimburses per km for business use)

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must reside in Calgary Alberta Canada
  • BSc/BA Degree is required, strong preference for MSc degree in neuroscience, life sciences, nursing, allied health, (biomedical) engineering, or business.
  • Minimum 5 years of successful experience in the medical field, preferably in a sales consultative role (e.g. Neuroscience/Neuromodulation Sales, Cardiac Rhythm Management Sales, Chronic Disease Rx Sales). Also, HCPs such as Nurse or Nurse Educators looking to move to industry.
  • Strong presentation skills with the ability to teach highly educated people is required.
  • Experience in a fast-paced environment where daily accountabilities are established, measured, and rewarded.
  • Self-starter, Strong work ethic, with a resilient results orientation.
  • Knowledge of, or experience with epilepsy is preferred.
  • Demonstrated aptitude and success in fostering solid, value-based physician relationships, and a capacity for interacting with healthcare providers and patients in a clinical environment.
  • Sound process orientation and demonstrated resource management / allocation. experience, and the ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Intellectual capacity to interpret trends and data, translating the information into actions and improvements.     
  • Excellent time management skills, independent thinker, with the aptitude to work autonomously.
  • Robust interpersonal skills, with evidence of teamwork and collaboration Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with customers, patients, and internal stakeholders at all levels.
  • Creative thinker and risk taker.

PAY

CAD $85,000 base salary + commission (scaled to the successful candidate’s experience - minimum $50,000)
