We are looking for a Senior Director of Technical Accounting and Financial Reporting to lead our corporate-wide technical accounting and external financial reporting.   Reporting to the Assistant Controller, this candidate will analyze and account for our most complex transactions and issues, lead and maintain policies and policy implementations, the financial reporting process, consolidations and serve as a key relationship manager for the company’s external auditor and with regulatory bodies. 

This candidate will have meaningful experience evaluating accounting issues with a particular focus in areas such as business combinations, segments, foreign currency, derivatives/hedging, investments, debt/equity, and revenue recognition – and will have experience connecting the accounting issues to financial reporting and disclosures impacts.

The ideal candidate will have both public accounting experience in SAAS/tech as well as hand-on experience working for companies with a high volume of complex transactions and issues.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead technical accounting team in the performance of research, the determination of financial reporting and disclosure impact, ensuring timely adoption of new accounting standards and preparation of technical accounting memos.

  • Be the ‘leading edge’ of new accounting pronouncements and training executives and Company personnel on changes and impact.

  • Lead financial reporting process, including the preparation of any future form filings as needed. Serve as the primary member for the company on financial disclosure matters.

  • Lead accounting due diligence process on potential acquisitions. Assist with negotiations as required and represent the accounting organization related to any M&A activities, including purchase accounting and accounting policy alignment considerations.

  • Assist accounting close for selected matters, including evaluation of unusual stock compensation expense matters, restructuring, and selected aspects of lease accounting and revenue recognition.

  • Manage updates to the Company’s SOX compliance documentation for the group: process flow mapping, risk control matrices, process narratives, testing key controls and monitoring compliance.

  • Ensure all key controls defined in the Company’s SOX program are identified, implemented, tested, and remediated to ensure compliance for annual attestation by the CFO and CEO.

  • Interact with controllership team members as well as key stakeholders in multiple functions across the finance function as well as business leaders.

  • Serve as a key relationship manager and interface with the external auditors, including ownership of technical positions, deliverables, and completion of audit procedures.

  • Provide technical accounting direction to company’s foreign entities.

  • Provide ongoing technical trainings for the accounting organization.

  • Manage Audit Committee and internal reporting materials preparation.

  • Develop excellent cross-functional relationships and serve as a key business partner during the negotiation of contemplated transactions to foresee potential accounting issues and recommend practical solutions associated with contemplated business transactions, including new products and business lines.

Required Experience, Education and Skills:

  • CPA and Big Four experience required.

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in public accounting and/or multinational corporation with at least 6 years at a Big 4 accounting firm.

  • Thorough knowledge of US GAAP, AICPA and PCAOB Auditing Standards, Sarbanes-Oxley, risk and controls standards and business process best practices.

  • Sound understanding of SaaS, IT platforms, applications, and related technology a plus.

  • Meaningful analytical and critical thinking skills.

  • Excellent decision-making capabilities with thorough understanding of drivers impacting the business.

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to convey complex matters with simplicity and clarity across the company.

  • Excellent leadership skills, with the ability to manage multi-location teams in a remote environment.

  • Must have a positive, proactive work ethic.

  • Consistent record of developing high profile, influential and collaborative relationships across teams, functions, and layers, preferably expansive of navigating a large corporation.

Compensation:

This role has a market-competitive salary with an anticipated base compensation range listed below. Actual salaries will vary depending on a candidate’s experience, qualifications, skills, and location. This role might also be eligible for a commission or performance-based bonus opportunities.  

$156,600.00 - $307,300.00
