In close partnership with principal investigators, dedicated medical professionals, patient advocacy groups, and regulatory authorities, you will drive the evidence needed to optimize patient outcomes.

How you will make an impact:
Responsible for the medical affairs strategy and leading the execution of assigned medical affairs activities.
Direct medical affairs activities (e.g., scientific communications, medical information, educational grants, claims development, healthcare professionals contracts, key performance indicators reporting) with overall responsibility for developing systems, planning, staffing, budgeting, managing expense priorities, recommending and implementing changes to methods through manager(s) and/or experienced professionals. Develop a robust talent development and succession planning in alignment with functional growth strategies across the medical affairs organization
Mitigate/eliminate risk, direct and communicate highly complex medical affairs strategies which includes negotiations with internal and external parties
Plan and direct strategic activities including prioritizing and selecting appropriate projects with overall responsibility for meeting business objectives. Lead in identifying risk, developing complex mitigation strategies, best practices, alternative solutions, resolving issues, etc. in collaboration with cross functional and/or matrix teams
Analyze, formulate and present recommendations to advise and guide executive level leadership; develop and deliver executive level communication

What you'll need (Required):
Ph.D., M.D. or equivalent plus relevant experience in a leadership capacity
Master's Degree or equivalent plus relevant experience in a leadership capacity
Demonstrated track record in people management
What else we look for (Preferred):
Ph.D. or M.D. Academic achievement level preferred
Experience working in a pharmaceutical or medical device industry
Demonstrated ability to direct teams and provide coaching and feedback, including responsibility for all employee actions including hire/fire authority and partnering with HR on all aspects of employee relations
Expert understanding of business strategy, competitive landscape, regulatory environment, and clinical data while looking beyond existing methodologies and own discipline to define and resolve complex problems
In-depth understanding of cardiovascular diseases and therapies
Practical knowledge of clinical and biostatics
Ability to develop and integrate metrics into the projects and operations that clearly demonstrate the value of medical affairs to the business
Proven track record in developing and maintaining relationships with internal and external stakeholders
Proven successful project management leadership skills
Excellent problem-solving, organizational, analytical and critical thinking skills including high discretion/judgment in decision making
Excellent written and verbal communication skills and interpersonal relationship skills including negotiating and relationship management skills with ability to drive achievement of objectives
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and related tools and systems
Regularly interacts with executives and/or major customers; interactions frequently involve special skills, such as negotiating with customers or management or attempting to influence senior level leaders regarding matters of significance to the organization
Dedicated to quality client service and pro-active and responsive to client needs.
Demonstrated ability to develop peer, cross functional and cross business relationships to maximize best practice sharing and team effectiveness.
Provide leadership and direction to large cross-functional teams to successfully implement global enterprise systems and related solutions
Ability to serve as a core partner to senior leaders in Business Units, Functional Groups, and Regions
Ability to interact professionally with all organizational levels and proactively escalate issues to appropriate levels of management in the organization
Ability to work and excel within a fast paced, dynamic, and constantly changing work environment
Interacts with senior management, and others concerning matters of significance to the company
Conduct business and technical briefings for senior and top management and for external representatives
Develop relationships and leverage them to influence change
Strict attention to detail
Support and solicit input from team members at all levels within the organization
Adhere to all company rules and requirements (e.g., pandemic protocols, Environmental Health & Safety rules) and take adequate control measures in preventing injuries to themselves and others as well as to the protection of environment and prevention of pollution under their span of influence/control
Aligning our overall business objectives with performance, we offer competitive salaries, performance-based incentives, and a wide variety of benefits programs to address the diverse individual needs of our employees and their families. For Illinois, the base pay range for this position is $204,000 to $289,000 (highly experienced). The pay for the successful candidate will depend on various factors (e.g., qualifications, education, prior experience).Applications will be accepted while this position is posted on our Careers website.
