Positions Summary:
The Senior Counsel will have overall responsibility for providing legal advice regarding global contracts and commercial issues at Edgewell.
Accountabilities:
- Works on teams with other functional and business colleagues and demonstrates strong collaboration skills and an understanding of key business strategies and drivers.
- Identifies and engages outside counsel and other vendors of legal services on a global basis that can provide support across an area to optimize legal spend, ensure quality of advice and minimize number of firms used.
- Works with his/her manager, and legal/business team colleagues on special projects, as needed.
- Partners closely with other members of the legal department on cross functional initiatives.
- Provide general commercial legal advice to various departments within Edgewell
- Support Global Distribution, Sales, Marketing and other contracts, as needed.
- Create and revise standard contract templates for Marketing, Distribution and Sales, as needed. Evaluate current templates and improve, as appropriate.
- Provide counsel to Direct and Indirect Procurement teams on contracts, as needed.
- Oversee the contracts database and be responsible for the conversion and implementation of a new database.
- Review and create global contract forms.
- Provide general legal counseling to the business in relation to contract interpretation and terms, and related issues.
- Create and present training materials on contractual and commercial legal issues
Required Education, Skills and Experience
- Juris Doctorate required from an ABA accredited university.
- Licensed to practice in the State of Connecticut, and a member in good standing of the Connecticut Bar or admitted to practice in another state with ability to obtain CT Authorized House Counsel certification.
- 7+ years of prior legal experience with emphasis on contracts.
Desirable Education, Skills and Experience
- Prior in-house commercial experience, with emphasis on contracts drafting, negotiation and counseling, providing commercial legal advice.
