We have an opportunity for a motivated individual to fill the role of Senior Business Development Manager.  In this position, the successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the strategic development of our Contractor Network, managing a team dedicated to the onboarding and training of contractors, representing Budderfly in key contractor interactions, and working cross-functionally to understand and meet the needs of various internal stakeholder groups.

Budderfly’s continued success is directly related to the strength and quality of our national contractor network. As Budderfly is responsible for both the execution of our energy efficiency retrofits and the ongoing preventative maintenance and reactive service needs of our enrolled sites, the Contractor Relations function has a direct impact on Budderfly’s most important KPIs: operational execution, expense profile, life-of-project energy savings, and customer satisfaction.

The Senior Business Development Manager will be responsible for the Contractor Relations function, overseeing and contributing to the development, optimization and ongoing management of our Contractor Network. This role blends relationship-building with contract strategy, pipeline management, data analysis and financial acumen.

Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Contractor Network Development: Design and implement a scalable contractor acquisition, training, and retention strategy that aligns with Budderfly’s financial and operational goals and ensures nation-wide Contractor coverage.
  • Relationship Management: Build and maintain trusted, long-term relationships with strategic Contractor partners, serving as a key point of contact and advocate.
  • Contractor Training & Enablement: Oversee and optimize the Contractor Onboarding and Training program to ensure contractor readiness, solution and process continuity, and compliance with company standards and expectations.
  • Contract Oversight: Own contract and MSA negotiation and assessment, ensuring financial soundness, risk mitigation, and legal compliance.
  • Financial Performance Monitoring: Collaborate with internal stakeholders to develop contractor cost assessment models, analyze spend structures, and ensure alignment with core Budderfly model across markets.
  • Data-Driven Optimization: Use KPIs, financial dashboards, and performance analytics to assess contractor performance, identify network weak spots, and guide strategic decisions.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with the Core, HVAC, Service, Pilots, Finance, and Legal teams to ensure Contractor Relations initiatives are aligned with broader business goals.
  • Communication Strategy: Develop clear internal and external communication plans to align stakeholders, educate contractors, and ensure consistent messaging across the network.

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Supply Chain, or related field (MBA or advanced degree a plus).
  • 5+ years of experience in business development, contractor/vendor relations, or strategic partnerships.
  • Strong financial acumen with experience in pricing models and cost analysis.
  • Proven experience in contract development, negotiation, and risk management.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to influence internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
  • Ability to translate complex data and financial insights into actionable business decisions.
  • Proficiency in CRM and data tools (e.g., Salesforce, Tableau, Excel).
  • High level of organizational agility and comfort operating in a fast-paced, evolving environment.

Salary Range:  $110,000 - $130,000
