About the Job

The Red Hat Quay Engineering team is looking for a Principal Engineer to help drive the overall development and delivery of Red Hat Quay. In this role, you'll work closely with Product Management, Quality Engineering, Customer Support and other Engineering teams to deliver the best container registry experience possible. The Quay team is highly collaborative and guides top performance in each other through a strong engineering culture, peer accountability and psychological safety.

What you will do

- Enhance Quay and Quay.io by adding support for centralized and disconnected AI Model storage via OCI v1.1.

- Work with engineering and the open source community to standardize on a method for querying metadata related to AI models stored using OCI. 

- Help deliver technical vision and direction for the product.

- Drive regular Quay release and development activities.

- Mentor other Quay Engineers and help coordinate overall team efficiency.

- Partner with other Engineering teams around Quay's integration with the OpenShift platform.

- Address customer issues by working directly with the Quay support team.

- Participate in and contribute to on-call rotation.

What you will bring
- Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent.

- Highly proficient in Python, Golang, or a similar language for large application development.

- 7+ years experience delivering a complex software product from requirements to releases as well as handling customer engagement.

- Deep knowledge of Linux containers and standards, including OCI.

- Experience and knowledge of AI and machine learning technologies.

- Extensive experience deploying and running applications on Kubernetes or OpenShift.

- Experience with distributed stateful architectures and AWS.

- Ability to work remotely and in person, contributing effectively to a distributed, remote team.

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, particularly for complex topics and issues.

The salary range for this position is $142,140.00 - $234,500.00. Actual offer will be based on your qualifications.

Pay Transparency

Red Hat determines compensation based on several factors including but not limited to job location, experience, applicable skills and training, external market value, and internal pay equity. Annual salary is one component of Red Hat’s compensation package. This position may also be eligible for bonus, commission, and/or equity. For positions with Remote-US locations, the actual salary range for the position may differ based on location but will be commensurate with job duties and relevant work experience.
