Northeast Regional Director, Facilities Management (Remote based in US) – Requires 25% regional travel

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Regional Director, Facilities Management.  Reporting to the Senior Director, Facilities Management.  The Regional Director will oversee the facilities management program and capital infrastructure projects of Tenet Healthcare, USPI and TPR locations in the assigned region.  This person will be accountable for providing strategic vision, leadership, and prioritized direction for designated architectural, maintenance and engineering projects for the assigned region.  With ownership for the final capital plan, the Regional Director will oversee the planning, engineering and design, security, safety, and upkeep of all physical facilities across the system.  He/She will research, identify, and assess system-wide capital renewal and deferred maintenance needs, and ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and designated regulatory agency(s) rules and regulations.  Project direction will include master planning, budgeting, project, and cash flow management.  The role will be remote in the assigned region.

Other responsibilities include:

  • Sets, monitors, and maintains the project goals, objectives, limitations, resources, and defined stakeholders in a project charter for the governance of the project.
  • Perform overall project planning, management operationalization, and close out for key real estate projects.  Tenet, USPI and TPR facilities in your region are within the scope of work.
  • Team assembly (contractors, design firms, and consultants) by managing the process for qualifications, bidding process, contract review, and selection recommendation to leadership.
  • Direct the identification and sourcing of internal and external resources and stakeholders as needed for the project.
  • Create and maintain project artifacts, including project plans, project status reports, project issues and risks, change requests, requirements, designs, testing plans, communication plans, education materials and knowledge transfer documentation for multiple projects.
  • Manages  and coordinates the activities of the project delivery team, develop, and maintain the detailed action logs and risk registers, lead the development of risk mitigation strategies for the project.
  • Ensure that issues and risks are properly escalated and resolved.
  • Direct and coordinate the planning and refinement of the project scope (resources, schedule, and financial estimate) 
  • Supervise the preparation, development and management of the master program/project budget and schedule, manages the monthly updates.
  • Supervise team activities and manage the execution of the projects within the agreed upon scope, timeframe, and budget.
  • Initiate and conduct internal team status meetings, document risks and issues and communicate to the team.
  • Support the necessary business plan and financial pro forma updates required.
  • Identify out of scope activities and manage change requests.
  • Facilitate communication and coordination within the project team and other stakeholders.
  • Facilitate status meetings with Executives, advisory and/or steering committee members for escalation of risks and issues.
  • Contributes to projects life-cycle improvement through lessons learned, project archives etc.
  • Lead the capital planning process for critical equipment.
  • Support emergency management efforts.
  • Maintain critical facilities management information as part of the property record (ManagePath).
  • Communicate with local site leadership, regional VP and market President on FM regulatory compliance and required maintenance activities.

Qualifications:

The successful candidate will have facilities & project management experience, with a minimum of ten years of experience working with a decentralized facilities team, healthcare facilities management, and large-scale complex projects.  The candidate will have earned a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Architecture, Construction Management, Engineering or Facilities/Business or in a related field. The candidate will have experience in building systems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, generator/UPS, medical gas and a BMS (building management system).  The candidate will have knowledge and experience in managing facilities in the medical environment, including OR's, procedure rooms, and sterile processing.

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Architecture, Construction Management, Engineering or Facilities/Business or in a related field.
  • Ten or more years of Facilities Management experience in a hospital or ASC setting.
  • PMP, CHC, CHFM, CHE, CHM or other professional health care engineering certification is considered a plus.
  • Proven experience in integrated change management across a large real estate portfolio, preferably in the healthcare space.
  • Strong leadership skills in managing vendors and contractors.
  • Ability to educate and influence cross-functional teams effectively.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to distill and communicate complex details to all organizational levels.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, and familiarity with collaboration software such as SmartSheet and ManagePath.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with a computerized maintenance Management System (CMMS) (i.e. WorxHub or TMS).
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills to professionally and effectively communicate with stakeholders at all levels, both internal and external.
  • Demonstrated ability to solve complicated facility-related challenges.
  • Safety-minded approach in all aspects of facilities management.
  • Ability to travel regionally up to 25% is required, including overnight travel. Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) will be conducted on finalist.

  • Strong management skills within a multifaceted and complex organization with a diverse set of perspectives
  • Knowledge of construction management, project management, codes and regulations pertaining to construction, including management of large capital projects
  • Good organization skills with the ability to prioritize workload and successfully manage all financial activities.  Strong analytical skills and demonstrated management and supervisory capabilities are required
  • A cooperative approach to problem solving with the capability of building consensus and support, working across functional lines to engage disparate resources to work together to achieve desired results
  • Ability to collaborate with corporate security and emergency response teams to develop a proactive approach to asset preservation from severe weather events, or civil disruptions
  • Expertise with CMS required NFPA codes and standards including Life Safety Code, Fire Alarm, Water-Based Fire Protection Systems, Emergency and Standby Power Systems and Health Care Facilities Code
  • Understanding survey process and standards for the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC) and The Joint Commission (TJC) regarding the Environment of Care and Life Safety Chapters.
  • Assist Administrator with sourcing equipment on temporary basis (interim and long term)
  • Knowledge of ASC infrastructure and project prioritization
  • Knowledge of ATG platform
  • Interface with biomed, IT on building systems that cross department lines (for example nurse call, UPS maintenance, etc.)
  • Initiate and conduct internal team status meetings, document risks and issues and communicate to the team
  • Ability to engage and carry conversations with the local ASC leadership team
  • Ability to quickly understand and navigate the internal Tenet business units to align the efforts of key staff to the betterment of the effort
  • Computer-literate with practical experience developing project work plans and related MS Office tools.

Compensation:

  • Pay: $120,016-$191,568 annually. Compensation depends on location, qualifications, and experience. 
  • Position may be eligible for an Annual Incentive Plan bonus of 10%-25% depending on role level.
  • Management level positions may be eligible for sign-on and relocation bonuses.
