Your New Role:

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Business Developer who will play a pivotal role in driving the company’s growth agenda by identifying and selling decarbonisation services for Amey via existing clients and contracts, while helping support building relationships to secure new business.

 

As part of the newly formed Net Zero and Energy Solutions Team, the role will focus on expanding the company’s portfolio of decarbonisation projects and delivering innovative solutions to help clients achieve their net zero carbon goals. Reporting directly to the Net Zero and Energy Solutions Director, the successful candidate will contribute to the team’s growth and development objectives.

This role offers an exciting opportunity for a dynamic business development professional to lead the expansion of the company’s net zero and energy services, deliver impactful decarbonisation projects, and shape the future of the growth of the team. 

UK Wide remit with frequent travel to be expected.

 

The salary is £45,000 - £55,000  

 

The standard hours of work are 37.5 per week.

You will be responsible for:

  • Assist in the development and execution of a strategic sales plan to grow the company’s decarbonisation services for both existing and new clients.
  • Identify opportunities within current contracts to implement net zero and energy efficiency solutions.
  • Build strategic relationships and identify cross selling opportunities across Amey.
  • Establish and nurture relationships with new business to expand market presence for Net Zero and energy solutions.
  • Lead the development of proposals and presentations, effectively communicating the benefits of Amey Net Zero propositions.
  • Conduct comprehensive market trend analysis and gathering of intelligence.
  • Represent the company at industry events, forums, and networking opportunities.
  • Provide regular sales forecasts and updates to the Net Zero and Energy Solutions team, ensuring transparency and accountability.

Size & Scope:

  • Working in a matrix style organisation collaborating with Complex Facilities Operational teams, working winning teams and the wider Amey business units such as Consulting and Transport Infrastructure
  • UK Wide remit with frequent travel to be expected.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams, including operations, engineering, and marketing.
  • Managing relationships with senior decision-makers within client organisations.
  • Targeting both incremental growth in existing contracts and new business.

 

We want to hear from you if you have:

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) in Business, Sustainability, or a related field.
  • Additional Professional Qualifications (e.g. ILM, CMI, APM) are desirable.

 

Skills & Experience:

  • Proven experience in sales and business development, particularly within the Built Environment.
  • Demonstrated success in identifying and securing existing clients and new business.
  • Strong understanding of Net Zero landscape and solutions for the Built Environment.
  • Ability to manage complex sales cycles.
  • Excellent relationship-building, negotiation, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in CRM tools and sales management software.
  • Strong commercial acumen with the ability to create and present compelling business cases.

Technical competencies:

  • Comprehensive knowledge of public procurement and framework agreements.
  • Developing commercially astute client proposals, business cases and pitches.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of sales methodologies such as Shipley or Miller Heiman.

  • Proactive and results-driven, with a strong focus on achieving sales targets and driving client outcomes.
  • Collaborative and team-oriented, with the ability to work effectively across diverse internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and resilience in managing complex projects and challenges.
