We are seeking a talented individual to join our Claims team at Marsh. This role will be based in Toronto. This is a hybrid role that has a requirement of working at least three days a week in the office. Qualified candidates in other locations across Canada will be considered.

The National Property Technical Lead is responsible for facilitating property claims management within the defined operational parameters of the claims team to ensure the prompt and equitable resolution of client claims. This role is also responsible for internal training on property policies and current trends/insights currently impacting the property market.  

Reporting directly to the Chief Claims Officer, this position requires a professional with substantial experience in property claims, policy wordings, large loss property claims management, various insurer towers and or third party claim adjusting. 

This individual will be technically focused and able to drive initiatives to handle complex claims resolution from the onset of the file. In-depth knowledge of Insurance Markets and their claim resolution procedures is a requirement for this hire.

We will count on you to:

  • Manage client advocacy activities.

  • Have ownership of hands-on active claim management, coverage reviews, problem solving and settlement strategies for clients.

  • Provide technical claim assistance, leadership and mentoring to colleagues.

  • Manage client relationships as Senior Relationship Manager for claims.

  • Analyze loss details to determine appropriate policies and coverage.

  • Drive the claims process for clients through participation in claims strategy discussions in order to ensure progress and equitable resolution.

  • Interact closely with internal Client Executives and Claims Advocacy colleagues to better the claim experience for clients.

  • Have a strong focus on clients and providing value-add claim services

  • Work closely with internal and external leadership groups to foster understanding of how to mitigate Marsh risk by closing claims optimally.

  • Provide support to Broking teams by participating in the creation of client specific claim protocols.

  • Monitor insurer responses to reported claims and engage with insurers and their professional advisers in order to support the expeditious and smooth resolution of claims.

  • Liaise and work closely with other claims team members to develop claim management best practice.

  • Draft communication to clients and/or insurers and reviewing documents prepared by the clients, in order to support the claims process.

  • Build relationships with key stakeholders both internally and externally.

What you need to have:

  • Minimum 10+ years’ experience in a commercial claims environment either at the adjustor, insurer, engineer, legal or brokerage level

  • In-depth understanding of relevant insurance law and claim litigation procedures

  • Direct involvement with large, complex property losses

  • Strong carrier relationships and detailed knowledge of insurance market claim procedures

  • University degree or College certification

  • CIP, CAIB, CRM, LL.B, all assets

The applicable base salary range for this role is $111,000 to $270,000.

The base pay offered will be determined on factors such as experience, skills, training, location, certifications, education, and any applicable minimum wage requirements. Decisions will be determined on a case-by-case basis. In addition to the base salary, this position may be eligible for performance-based incentives.
