GENERAL FUNCTION:
The Director, Corporate Strategy role partners with the Bank's executive leadership to deliver a growth-oriented, results-focused strategic agenda including stewardship of Fifth Third's overarching vision and mission. The position is responsible for prioritizing, directing and ensuring high quality and business-aligned outcomes for all strategy, analytics and reporting work that supports design and execution of line of business strategy. This position works with lines of business executives to deliver comprehensive strategic plans, ensure effective governance over business strategies and proactively and prudently manage strategic risk in partnership with business leadership.
Responsible and accountable for risk by openly exchanging ideas and opinions, elevating concerns, and personally following policies and procedures as defined. Accountable for always doing the right thing for customers and colleagues, and ensures that actions and behaviors drive a positive customer experience. While operating within the Bank's risk appetite, achieves results by consistently identifying, assessing, managing, monitoring, and reporting risks of all types.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Be the primary partner and thought leader in developing, updating and ensuring execution against a strategy for the division(s) for which the MD is responsible.
- Clear vision financial and operational outcomes, customer experience, risk/return profile, competitive position, regulatory standing, etc.
- Clear priorities for multi-year roadmap with clear areas of focus (and deprioritized areas), and operational plan including risk mitigation strategies, execution milestones and business partner integration.
- Effective execution governance, transparency and honesty in reporting on performance both against goals and in the execution of individual initiatives.
- Enabling early intervention where needed, and effective risk management from ideation to benefits recognition.
- Translate the strategy, as well as ad hoc business needs (as articulated by the division leader), into discrete priorities and work plans for (the relevant teams within) three groups.
- Corporate strategy responsible for developing discrete strategies through fact-based exploration of business opportunities/challenges, executing the strategic planning process, and providing market intelligence to the bank.
- Decision sciences responsible for developing and deploying advanced analytical techniques in support of key business priorities.
- Enterprise data and reporting responsible for efficiently and effectively delivering timely and accurate information to businesses that they require for day-to-day decision making and operations.
