Your Impact
You are an SRE Engineering Manager with experience managing the operations and uptime of large-scale platforms. You have deep interest in Kubernetes and cloud-native technologies. You are excited about the care, feeding and growth of high-availability, scalable cloud-based platforms.
You want to lead a team of SRE experts in delivering solutions to the real-time problems our mission-critical cloud native services encounter. You are obsessed about achieving the high quality and reliability our customers demand. You also enjoy mentoring and growing junior engineers.

What You’ll Do
Location: Remote
Reports to: Senior Site Reliability Engineering Manager
Direct Reports: 4-8 SRE Engineers
- Drive the execution of your team by leading planning, prioritization, stand-ups, and team retro meetings.
- Lead the technical direction of the team through architectural discussions and code reviews.
- Work with product managers, senior engineers, and client teams to get ‘ahead of the curve' and explore new opportunities.
- Join forces with recruiting to hire a top-notch engineering team.
- Manage engineers and their careers with 1:1s and performance reviews.
- Coach your team for continuous improvements.
- Lead large scale projects that impact multiple engineering teams.
- Execute and deliver new features and improvements to Axon’s engineering teams on a regular basis.
What You Bring
- This position involves handling of classified federal data; under federal regulations, it is open to US Citizens only
- 8+ years of applicable experience
- A track record of planning and delivering on multiple overlapping projects spanning several months
- Experience implementing an engineering process that emphasized security, availability, scalability, and operational discipline
- Experience managing cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or similar.
- Experience operating in Kubernetes platforms like AKS, EKS, or similar.
- Experience using managed languages such as Python, Go, C#, Java, or similar.
- Experience utilizing CI/CD platforms and observability tools.
- Experience designing tooling to simplify the operational management of SaaS/PaaS systems.
- Empathy to support the needs of software engineers.

The Pay: Axon is a total compensation company, meaning compensation is made up of base pay, bonus, and stock awards. The starting base pay for this role is between USD 135,000 in the lowest geographic market and USD 216,000 in the highest geographic market. The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors, such as: level, function, training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs, geographic market, and often a combination of all these factors.
