Brown and Caldwell (BC) is seeking a Senior Director to lead the portfolio management of Integrated Project Delivery (IPD) Design Partner Projects in our Municipal Markets in the water treatment, wastewater treatment, linear infrastructure, and heavy civil areas to ensure that all projects within the respective market areas meet established key performance indicators and metrics. Design Partner Projects are projects where BC is in the design engineer role on collaborative delivery projects.

Characteristics of the successful candidate include the proven ability to manage a large portfolio of projects in multiple Municipal Markets, maintain, leverage and expand BC’s exceptional client relationships and align with local and national resources and teams. The candidate shall have extensive project delivery experience to be able to assess project health and be able to help assist in the development of a recovery plan.

Detailed Description:

The key objectives of the role include:

  • Provide Project Pursuit Teams support in contract/commercial assessment and negotiation, risk analysis, scope of work development, level of effort development, pricing, and project schedule development.
  • Partner with IPD Project Development Leads during project pursuit phases.
  • Provide Project Delivery Teams guidance to support change management and design quality driving successful project outcomes in alignment with BC Project Delivery fundamentals.
  • Partner with Business Unit (BU) Leadership, Market Area Directors and Market Sector Leaders to ensure the IPD Enterprise and BU Delivery Teams meet our contractor partner (or BCC if Prime) and client commitments.
  • Oversee the interaction between the IPD Enterprise team and the BU Area Leaders and Local Leaders to facilitate seamless business planning to support respective market demands.
  • Maintain balanced IPD Delivery Partner resourcing across the BU client portfolios in support of all IPD Delivery Partner projects including company top pursuits.
  • Supporting BU Project Pursuit and Delivery Teams and reinforcing adherence to the Chief Engineer’s application of BC quality policy and use of design standards and best practices uniformly across the company.
  • Partner with BU Area Leaders and Local Leaders to determine needs for resource capabilities, specialty delivery resources as needed, and delivery capacity for upcoming IPD projects.
  • Assist BU Area Leaders and Local Leaders to achieve anticipated performance metrics on Design Partner Portfolio Projects, directly aligned with P&L and operational goals (ex-sales, net revenue (NR) burn, and margin) of the respective Areas.

IPD Portfolio Delivery Partner Responsibilities:

  • Implement decisions impacting the respective BU Pursuit and Delivery Teams to closely follow the BU Strategic Plan.
  • Coordinate directly with Leaders (BU, IPD Enterprise, Design Services Enterprise, and Project Services) associated with the Design Partner Portfolio.
  • Coordinate with BU Area Leaders and Local Leaders to understand the upcoming staffing and skill set needs.
  • Support delivery of Design Partner Projects communicating project talent demands across the company to form and maintain complete delivery teams.
  • Work with Leaders to support pursuits of large, complex and company-priority Design Partner Projects.
  • Support Project Managers, Project Developers and operations leadership in identifying and approving appropriate project delivery teams. Coordinate to inform the Strategic Plan.
  • Monitor the overall performance of the Design Partner Portfolio.
  • Coordinate with the Chief Engineers and Project Delivery to drive compliance with BC project specific design standards and project delivery fundamentals and best practices.
  • Work with BU and IPD Leadership to identify and address personnel, performance, and process issues.
  • Work with the BU and IPD Leadership to facilitate improved organizational health and design services team performance.
  • Identify and develop the next generation of BU Leadership at all levels.
  • Contribute to the BU hiring plan supporting the BU Strategic Plan.
  • Engage regularly with employees and BU/IPD leadership across the company to monitor organizational health employee satisfaction and proactively resolve issues.

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • 20+ years of design, CMAR/PDB/FPDB as Designer, Contractor or related experience preferred.
  • 15+ years’ experience in project and/or design management preferred.
  • E. preferred.
  • Ability to manage a portfolio of projects.
  • Ability to provide exemplary customer service to BU and IPD Leadership associated with the portfolio.
  • Ability to facilitate delivery team building decisions with all pertinent stakeholders.
  • Ability to leverage company-wide technical resources and expertise.
  • Good understanding of BC’s project delivery standards.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and competing deadlines.
  • UT expectation: 60 percent.

Salary Range:  The anticipated starting pay range for this position is [$175,000 - $262,000] and may be more or less depending upon skills, experience, and education.
