New York Life Investments is seeking a dynamic and results-driven External Wholesaler to represent our investment solutions—including mutual funds, separately managed accounts (SMAs), and ETFs—to financial advisors across Minnesota, North Dakota, and South Dakota. This individual will work with both wire house and independent broker-dealer channels, serving as a trusted resource and strategic partner to financial professionals in the region.

  • Effectively represent New York Life Investments’ products and services, clearly articulating their value and competitive advantages to financial advisors.
  • Deliver technical product information and market insights, leveraging strong knowledge of capital markets, competitor offerings, and industry trends.
  • Collaborate with Internal Advisor Consultants and the broader sales team to drive sales of mutual funds, SMAs, ETFs, and limited partnerships.
  • Manage a travel and entertainment budget responsibly and within assigned guidelines.
  • Travel frequently—50% or more—to build and maintain advisor relationships and drive business growth across Minnesota, North Dakota, and South Dakota.

What You’ll Bring:

  • Active FINRA Series 7 and 63 licenses (required).
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, or a related field (preferred).
  • Minimum 3 years of asset management sales experience or financial advisor experience, ideally within the assigned territory.
  • Demonstrated success in meeting or exceeding sales targets and building long-term advisor relationships.
  • Deep knowledge of investment products, including mutual funds, ETFs, SMAs, and capital markets.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Highly motivated, organized, and capable of working both independently and as part of a team.

What We’re Looking For:

  • A passion for financial markets and continuous learning.
  • Natural curiosity with the ability to ask thoughtful questions and uncover advisor needs.
  • A consultative sales approach focused on adding value rather than just selling.
  • A drive to become indispensable to advisors through insights, service, and strategic partnership.
  • Strong execution skills with the ability to monitor sales performance and pivot strategies in response to market dynamics.
