Job Description

As a Business Technology Partner (BTP), you will report to the Development IT BTP lead within our Research & Development Division IT. You will be part of a team that deeply understands business strategy and creates and manages the portfolio of activities driving business value. This role will initially focus on the Biostatistics and Research Decision Sciences functional area, with the growth potential to contribute to other functional areas. You will collaborate closely with Business Leaders & Development IT Product Line Leads to define technology solutions for priority business problems, ensuring adoption and achievement of expected outcomes.   As a key connector in the organization, you will work closely with other BTPs within our Research & Development Division and Divisional IT, fostering a collaborative environment and sharing best practices to drive business value.

This role plays a vital and instrumental part in nurturing and cultivating the skills and potential of our upcoming talent pool. By assuming this role, you will have a significant impact on shaping the future capabilities and success of our organization. Your work will directly contribute to the development and implementation of key business strategies and the successful adoption of technology solutions, thereby driving our organization's growth and success.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Influence global and regional business leadership and product line leads to develop priorities, strategy, capabilities, and quantifiable indicators of success.

  • Stay current with industry trends to identify emerging focus areas and opportunities that can benefit from technology enablement.

  • Build strong cross-functional relationships with business stakeholders and IT teams.

  • Partner with Product Line Leads to translate business strategy and goals into product line & product strategy, ensuring solutions are adopted and the expected business outcomes are delivered.

  • Work with the network of business technology partners within our Research & Development Division IT, architects, and other IT divisions to align on business priorities, identify synergies, and explore cross-divisional solutions opportunities.

  • Proactively identify enterprise technology changes and partner with stakeholders to support impact assessment

  • Support the management of the Value Team's portfolio of investments, including the development of business cases and follow-up on value realization.

Leadership and Talent Development: 

  • Drive organizational change and cultivate a culture of excellence, innovation, and collaboration. 

  • Develop talent through coaching and mentoring, ensuring technology excellence is embedded in all activities. 

Education Minimum:

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or Life Science

Required Qualifications and Skills:

  • 10 years of overall professional experience

  • 7 years of IT experience: This includes Enterprise, Business, Information, Systems & Application or Solution Architectures.

  • Proven Ability to Collaborate and Lead: The candidate must demonstrate the ability to collaborate efficiently in a cross-functional environment to reach shared objectives. In addition, a broad range of leadership skills, particularly influencing without authority, will be crucial in this role.

  • Strong Problem-solving and Quantitative Skills: The candidate should possess strong problem-solving abilities, a practical approach to resolving challenges, and exceptional quantitative skills, including the ability to leverage data and metrics to guide investment decisions.

  • Effective Communication: Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, with proficiency in integrating, summarizing, and tailoring messages to different audiences, including senior leaders. The ability to listen empathetically and articulate complex concepts simply will play a key role in team and client interaction.

  • User Advocacy and Drive for Results: The ability to advocate for users by conceiving solutions that facilitate the company's colleagues' work is essential. A robust drive for results, supported by excellent planning and organizational skills, is also required.

  • Inquisitiveness and Industry Experience: A curiosity to analyze and comprehend the drivers behind trends is needed to stay innovative and up-to-date.

Preferred Qualifications and Skills:

  • Experience or training with developing KPIs and OKRs in the product model

  • Hands-on experience with portfolio management and/or business performance management, with a proven track record of results

  • Excellent understanding and experience with the Biostatistics function in Pharma

U.S. Hybrid Work Model

Effective September 5, 2023, employees in office-based positions in the U.S. will be working a Hybrid work consisting of three total days on-site per week, Monday - Thursday, although the specific days may vary by site or organization, with Friday designated as a remote-working day, unless business critical tasks require an on-site presence.This Hybrid work model does not apply to, and daily in-person attendance is required for, field-based positions; facility-based, manufacturing-based, or research-based positions where the work to be performed is located at a Company site; positions covered by a collective-bargaining agreement (unless the agreement provides for hybrid work); or any other position for which the Company has determined the job requirements cannot be reasonably met working remotely. Expected US salary range:

$164,800.00 - $259,400.00
