Position Summary
We’re seeking a decarbonization designer or engineer to lead innovative sustainability-focused engineering solutions at Mazzetti. This is your opportunity to plan and design whole-systems strategies to decarbonize buildings and operations across a variety of industries with a special focus on healthcare and higher ed. As a key team player, you’ll manage complex projects, foster meaningful client relationships, and deliver solutions that drive real change. If you’re a dynamic mechanical designer or engineer with technical expertise in decarbonization, project management prowess, and a passion for creating impact, we want you on our team.
Your Tasks Will Involve
Design & Innovate
- Develop decarbonization solutions like energy-efficient HVAC, renewable energy systems, and emissions reduction strategies.
- Analyze systems and decarbonization paths and collaborate with teams to assess feasibility and risks.
Lead Projects
- Manage project delivery, ensuring milestones, budgets, and quality are met while coordinating multidisciplinary teams.
Build Relationships
- Engage clients to tailor sustainable solutions, provide updates, and present technical concepts to diverse audiences.
Drive Sustainability
- Stay ahead of industry trends, support company-wide net-zero goals, and mentor team members in cutting-edge practices.
Work Location
This is a fully remote position, open to candidates based in the continental United States.
Travel Requirements: Occasional domestic travel (up to 10%) will be required for specific project needs, conferences, and/or team engagements.
RequirementsExpertise And Abilities You Will Contribute
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Energy Systems, or related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- 5+ years of experience in engineering design, sustainability consulting, or decarbonization planning.
- Proven experience managing complex projects from design to delivery.
- Strong understanding of carbon reduction frameworks, energy-efficient technologies, and renewable energy systems.
- Proficiency with energy modeling tools (e.g., EnergyPlus, IES-VE, or similar) and engineering design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, or equivalent).
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with experience managing client relationships.
- Demonstrated ability to lead cross-disciplinary teams and deliver projects on time and within budget.
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements, net-zero commitments, and climate-related reporting frameworks (e.g., SBTi, LEED, or BREEAM).
Preferred:
- Professional engineering license (PE) strongly preferred.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent.
- Experience with carbon accounting tools and reporting protocols.
- Understanding of life-cycle assessments and energy performance contracting.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to develop tailored solutions for complex systems.
- Ability to influence and inspire clients to adopt sustainable practices.

What We Offer
The salary range for a Decarbonization Designer or Engineer is $100-000- $150,000. The ultimate compensation may vary depending on your experience and job-related skills. Additionally, we offer a dynamic benefits package which includes the following:
