Cloud Security Engineer

Responsibilities
Peraton is seeking a skilled Cloud Security Engineer to join our innovative cloud services team. This position is 100% remote and will focus on cloud security engineering and design across a multi-account multi-environment enterprise cloud offering. The cloud security engineer will work as part of an enterprise cloud services team and will utilize knowledge of cloud security, cloud technologies, and current cloud trends to develop enterprise solutions. The cloud security engineer’s responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Configure and implement security controls for cloud environments (AWS, Azure), including identity and access management (IAM), encryption, firewall configurations, etc.
- Assist in ensuring compliance with industry regulations (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA, SOC 2) and internal security standards. Support internal and external audits related to cloud security.
- Perform cloud security assessments to identify and remediate potential risks in cloud infrastructure.
- Implement and security policies, procedures, and guidelines for cloud environments.
- Collaborate with DevOps, infrastructure, and application teams to integrate security best practices.
- Identify and address security risks, vulnerabilities, and threats in the cloud environment
- Assist with ensuring compliance with Federal Government security mandates and directives (e.g. OMB, CISA, HIPAA)
- Assist in implementing automated cloud security controls and real-time monitoring solutions to detect and respond to threats and vulnerabilities.
- Assist with establishing or evolving cloud best practices
- Effectively communicate complicated cloud reports to leadership and IT partners
- Staying current with emerging trends and advancements in cloud technologies and platforms.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
- BS/BA degree with 12 years’ relevant experience
- Minimum of 5 years of experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Microsoft Azure with an emphasis on AWS
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in cloud security, IT security, or related fields
- Knowledge of security standards and frameworks such as NIST, CIS, OWASP, and best practices for cloud security
- Experience with cloud-native security services (e.g. AWS Config, AWS Security Hub, Amazon GuardDuty, Amazon Inspector, AWS WAF, AWS Shield, Azure Defender for Cloud)
- Candidate must hold or be able to obtain Public Trust
- Must be a US Citizen
Preferred Qualifications:
- Relevant cloud security certifications such as AWS Certified Security Specialty, Certified Cloud Security Professional (CCSP), Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), or CompTIA Security+.
- Knowledge of scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell for automation and security tasks
- Experience supporting internal and external audits
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) (e.g. Cloud formation, Terraform)
- Experience with cloud-native security tools for monitoring, logging, and incident response.

Target Salary Range
$112,000 - $179,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.EEO
