Cloud Engineering Lead

Responsibilities
Peraton is seeking a lead cloud engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be working 100% remote and will focus on cloud operations and engineering. A candidate in this position will work as part of an enterprise cloud services team and will lead the engineering and operations team and oversee the deployment of a scalable, secure, and resilient cloud environment. The candidate responsibilities will include managing of the team task priorities, providing technical guidance and solutions for provisioning of services and permissions, operational monitoring, and incident response. A candidate is expected to have broad experience across cloud infrastructure resources.
The candidate responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Leadership Role
- Lead the cloud engineering and operations team for deployment, monitoring, and maintenance of cloud environments (e.g. AWS, Azure, GCP)
- Understand the scope and manage the prioritization of ServiceNow requests, changes, and Jira tasks for provisioning, modifying, troubleshooting, and decommissioning cloud services
- Advise and enhance cloud team process improvements using cloud best practices and team standards
- Coordinate with team counterparts internal to the cloud services team and with peers leads (eg. OS, database, monitoring teams)
- Effective communication with leadership for status, issues, risks, and concerns, etc.
Technical Role
- Provide technical guidance and direction to cloud team on provisioning new resources and resolution of infrastructure issues
- Provide system monitoring and incident management for cloud environments
- Manage operations in cloud environments and ensure the high availability and performance of those environments
- Evaluate and operationalize cloud services, tools, and technologies
- Implement and manage identity and access management (IAM) policies and tools to control user permissions and access to cloud environments.
- Monitoring Cloud overall health and address/identify issues and address with cloud services team and/or cloud customers to resolve
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree and 12 years of relevant experience
- Five (5) years of experience preferred in cloud technologies including Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, or other public cloud services with an emphasis on AWS experience
- Strong experience in writing and deploying Infrastructure as Code (e.g. Cloud Formation, Terraform, CDK) to provision cloud infrastructure
- Two (2) years of experience preferred with Python or similar cloud scripting language.
