Leidos is seeking a Chief Software Engineer to join the CTO team for a complex, large-scale Treasury/IRS program. Our Chief Software Engineer will be a leader of cultural and technology change, a driver of innovation and industry trend awareness; lead teams in DevOps & Agile best practices and mentor and guide technical teams, fostering innovation and excellence. The system architectures require cloud strategies and driving adoption of cloud-based solution; methodologies for building and operating highly available, scalable services; emphasis on continual process improvement through automation and introduction of resilient and self-healing applications and workflows. Product line documentation and baseline management are also core to the responsibilities of this leadership role.

The ideal candidate will be a servant leader who has the technical depth and interpersonal communication skills necessary to inspire, lead, direct, and develop sound/resilient architectural solutions for this complex program, while interfacing and building relationships with senior customer and Leidos internal leadership, alike.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Lead architecture and design of high-performance capabilities for Treasury/IRS.
• Partner with Task Order technical leadership to ensure implementation of software development best practices, standards, guidelines and drive consistency and best practices across the Program and Portfolio.
• Drive innovation and industry trend awareness; Leading teams in DevOps & Agile best practices and Mentor and guide technical teams, fostering innovation and excellence.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to define system requirements and translate them into solutions to ensure the security, scalability, and sustainability of all systems, Translating system requirements into secure, scalable solutions.
• Integrate new technologies into architectures and evaluate tools for high-quality delivery.
• Lead teams in DevOps & Agile best practices and mentor technical teams.
• Support the Program team in driving innovation, creation of Roadmaps, and thought leadership within the customer domain. Maintain and forward-looking perspective on industry trends and emerging technologies.
• Document model development processes, results, and best practices for knowledge sharing and reproducibility.
• Ensure security best practices are integrated into the development lifecycle, including compliance with data protection regulations.
• Assist in creating technical documentation and presentations to communicate findings and progress to stakeholders.

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree and 11 or more years of experience in software development/architecture, design and/or analysis. However, an equivalent combination of education, certification(s) and relevant experience will be considered.
• Proficiency in multiple programming languages, Python, Ruby, Web, APIs, Linux, SQL, ETL, Agile, Cloud, Docker, Appian, Microsoft products.
• Proficiency in AI and Automation: Gen AI, Intelligent Document Processing, Natural Language Processing, LLMs, RPA.
• Experience with front-end technologies, new feature design, documentation, user training resources.
• Strong problem-solving, organizational, and exceptional communication and presentation skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with customers, cross-functional teams, and stakeholders.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Minimum Background Investigation (MBI), similar to a Public Trust clearance.
• Must be a U.S. Citizen.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Effectively coordinate projects, products, and teams; provide meaningful feedback and reviews.
• Strong proficiency in scalable microservices, UI/UX design, and full-stack development.
• Proven expertise in mission software solutions related to data science, machine learning, or similar technologies.
• Familiarity with AI/ML models for processing and analyzing large datasets.
• Demonstrated ability to drive technological innovation and serve as an agent of change within an organization.
