The Associate Director, Payer Strategy will be responsible for developing and executing strategies to gain market access for new product launches. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the US Market Access environment, including pricing, contracting, reimbursement, and market access strategies. The candidate should also have a deep understanding of diverse therapeutic areas and the key stakeholders including payers, GPO, PBM’s, and specialty pharmacy. This role reports to the Senior Director of U.S. Pricing, Contracting, and Pipeline Strategy Lead.

Essential Functions of the job:

  • Develop strategic pricing and core contracting analytics, including financial modeling for Payer/PBM, GPOs, and IDNs, assessing the impact of contracting scenarios on ROI, Gross-to-Net (GTN), and Average Selling Price (ASP).
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Value, Real World Evidence, and Legal teams to identify, assess, and implement innovative pricing strategies (e.g., Value-Based, Capitated, Subscription models).
  • Conduct thorough research on payer landscape, including reimbursement policies, formulary management, and key decision-makers to identify potential challenges and opportunities for new drugs.
  • Model the impact of lifecycle pricing and contracting strategies, including legislative measures on revenue.
  • Create comprehensive payer strategies to optimize market access for recently launched products such as Tevimbra or future pipeline products, considering pricing, value proposition, clinical evidence, and economic analysis.
  • Support cross-functional collaboration in developing health technology assessment models, including budget impact and cost-effectiveness models, and drive health economic and observational research to support key assumptions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to inform bottom-up forecast models and provide strategic financial inputs for budget planning.
  • Effectively communicate clinical trial data and other relevant evidence to payers to support reimbursement decisions.
  • Engage with payers to negotiate favorable reimbursement terms and contracts for new drugs, including pricing, access criteria, and patient support programs.
  • Assist in drafting, reviewing, and managing contracts with healthcare providers, payers, and other key stakeholders.

Required Eduication:

  • Minimum of a BA/BS Degree; Advanced degree preferred.  

Required Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, biological sciences, or related discipline; advanced degree preferred.
  • BS with 8 + years of experience in pharmaceutical, biotech and/or healthcare industry.
  • 5+ years of experience in market access insights, analytics, and pricing within the pharmaceutical or healthcare sectors.
  • Understanding of drug pricing, including First Databank and / or Medispan data sources is highly preferred.
  • Knowledge of AMP, Best Price and ASP pricing dynamics is highly preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge of market access dynamics, payer landscapes, reimbursement strategies, and GTN accounting principles.
  • Commercial launch experience required.
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to network across a broad internal and external matrix organization and the skills necessary to form strong, productive partnerships and build consensus and acumen.
  • Deep knowledge of payer and distribution channels (commercial, government, SP, GPOs).
  • Strategic thinker with an ability to relate operational trends to broader strategic goals (e.g., assessing legislative impacts on business, explaining GTN drivers).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, strong presentation skills to C-suite management and external stakeholders.
  • Experience in oncology solid tumors and oral oncolytic is preferred.
  • Flexible, adaptable, diplomatic, and able to effectively deal with ambiguity.
  • Ability to travel 15-25% domestic.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Able to identify and implement recommendations for improving processes and efficiency.
  • Proven ability to collaborate and build relationships across all key internal & external stakeholders, including executive management.
  • Positive attitude to embrace occasional special projects as part of collaborative team or individual contributor.

Salary Range: $143,000.00 - $193,000.00 annually

BeiGene is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. Actual compensation packages are determined by several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to job-related skills, depth of experience, certifications, relevant education or training, and specific work location. Packages may vary by location due to differences in the cost of labor. The recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for a preferred location during the hiring process.  Please note that the listed range reflects the base salary or hourly range only. Non-Commercial roles are eligible to participate in the annual bonus plan, and Commercial roles are eligible to participate in an incentive compensation plan.
