Future's B2B division is growing, and is seeking an Advertising Account Director to become the market development leader for the Future B2B - SmartBrief Food & Beverage Group.

What you'll be doing...

The Account Director is responsible for managing and developing a sales territory and overseeing all stages of the sales life cycle, from prospecting to closing to renewing and growing accounts. This position will develop business partnerships with clients to advertise their products and services in the multiple SmartBrief newsletters that cater to the consumer goods, food processing, foodservice, grocery, and health & nutrition industries.

Successful candidates must have a strong desire to learn, possess account management capabilities, and be familiar with B2B publishing and a range of advertising and marketing solutions offered by SmartBrief. This includes digital advertising, content marketing, social media targeting, and lead generation programs. The Account Director sits on the B2B Commercial team and reports to the Managing VP Sales, SmartBrief.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify and secure new advertising company leads using a targeted brand strategy outlined by the Managing VP, Sales. 
  • Schedule and lead presentations and business meetings with company stakeholders & advertising agencies for assigned accounts.
  • Prospect potential clients and leads and conduct outreach.
  • Communicate the value of SmartBrief by walking clients through detailed presentations.
  • Execute on a strategic plan to achieve revenue goals.
  • Prepare integrated media proposals to illustrate the value of the brands and publications and proactively win new business and grow accounts.
  • Travel to industry events, client meetings, trade shows, and conferences as required.
  • Understand competitive differentiators in the fast-changing advertising landscape of the food & beverage industry.
  • Collaborate with the team and effectively communicate customer insights to help shape our products.

Experience that will put you ahead of the curve...

  • 3+ years of B2B sales or publishing experience. Knowledge of the food & beverage industry is a plus.
  • 3+ years of client facing experience in the media industry.
  • Knowledge of online & print advertising terms and the sales life cycle.
  • Solid experience in MS Office/Google Docs including spreadsheets and pitch decks/presentations.
