Workplace Consulting Sr. Specialist

The Workplace Consulting Sr. Specialist is a rainmaker (can source new work), an influencer, and a client leader, partnering with consulting teams and design teams to pursue and deliver innovation workplace strategy and change solutions across multiple markets. All efforts drive impactful solutions to the evolving landscape of work environments and workforce effectiveness, using a living-centered design framework, focusing on ideas that help people continuously flourish. This role will have an opportunity to shape outcomes for clients in any market that Blue Cottage or CannonDesign serve, including commercial, science & tech, health, education, civic, federal, sports, etc. This role reports to the Director of Blue Cottage of CannonDesign and will partner to meet success metrics across Blue Cottage and CannonDesign. The role also will have close and frequent collaboration and coordination with the Commercial and other Market and Practice Leaders across the firm, working to expand market presence, network, and impact. The role will have close connections and a collaborative relationship with in-house digital products and smart buildings groups, design technology group, prototyping leaders, AEI practice, and IT.
HERE'S WHAT YOU'LL DO- Build upon a robust and successful workplace consulting practice, including identifying & sourcing strategic consulting opportunities that leverage Blue Cottage and CannonDesign services in any market, to innovate and bring value and benefit our clients, in any industry that is interested in developing workplace solutions that anticipate future needs and make positive impacts.
- Identify, establish and nurture meaningful, long-term relationships with clients and internal partners through excellence, integrity, and reliability and in a way that grows the consulting practice and elevates the brand, while making measurable, living-centered impact.
- Collaborate with clients to understand their needs, the issues they face, and partner with Blue Cottage and CannonDesign leaders to launch and grow our workplace consulting practice. You will wow our clients through fantastic work and continue to differentiate our service offering in the marketplace.
- Leverage leading practices and translate research into practice by leveraging insights from organizational psychology, employee engagement, and human performance research into actionable and engaging solutions that further organizational goals.
- Develop service capabilities and tools that provide long term recurring value to our practice and our clients, leveraging research and evidence-driven workplace solutions.
- Provide oversight and lead high-performing teams from pre-positioning to pursuit to close, across Blue Cottage and/or in partnership with others across CannonDesign.
- Serve as a liaison and represent Blue Cottage in planning meetings, leadership meetings, and collaborative efforts. Work to create new methods for collaboration and integration, project tools and processes.
- Build on our living-centered design mindset and capabilities as a firm, allowing our approach to problem solving to be deeply embedded in human-centered strategies that reflect operational needs, financial parameters, workforce and cultural impact.
- Manage consulting projects, reviewing project performance, team member utilization, tracking project budget, and coaching team members along the way based on project performance metrics and opportunities identified.
- Create work plans including project staffing (i.e. aligning the right talent with the right task / activities / opportunity), project approach, fee optimization, and resource requests. Lead and engage in the entire pursuit continuum.
- Lead and/or support planning for both small and large-scale projects across various multi-year and multi-phased efforts.
- Capitalize upon your existing network and our client base and experience and expand the business potential and profile (brand) of the firm by pre-positioning Blue Cottage for opportunities.
- Build and share your subject matter expertise through industry networking, thought leadership, and engagement leadership, balanced with leading and delivering project work.
- Provide direction and leadership on pursuits and proposal development, including the scoping of the potential opportunities, team design, approach development, and overarching proposal execution and oversight.
- Significant travel may be required, as necessitated by clients and your role.
MEASURES OF SUCCESS:
- Secure, through your connections and leadership, a minimum of $1M of Blue Cottage net signed fee per year for the workplace consulting practice and contribute to integrated project work that you assist by pre-positioning, participating in pursuits, interviews, etc.
- Contribute to 10% Year-over-Year growth of Blue Cottage (grow the business, grow the team).
- Present annually at 2 National conference presentations and contribute to 2 white papers/peer reviewed journals.
- Achieve a balance of marketing, business development, team development and thought leadership, while hitting a billable utilization target of 60% or more (or generating equivalent value in new business and projects).
- Achieve minimum 25% profitability on projects you lead or in which you participate.
- Embrace and model living centered design ethos and competencies.
- Masters degree or advanced degree preferred. Bachelors degree is required.
- Executive presence and demonstrated business acumen.
- Proven experience in developing and leading services in workplace consulting, including workplace strategy, technology & digital solutions, space optimization/modeling and change management for workplace solutions, employee engagement and organizational culture.
- Business Development experience and proven ability to leverage a wide professional network of individuals that will help communicate our value and grow our brand and revenue.
- Extensive experience presenting to clients, industry conferences, and internal leadership
