The Workday Reporting Manager is responsible for ensuring enterprise customers can make reliable data-driven decisions by delivering the best possible reporting solution Workday has to offer to meet business needs. They are a Subject Matter Expert in simple and complex Workday reporting and understand how Workday security impacts data visibility. This role is heavily focused on complex project work, but also for day-to-day report developments. It is critical this role collaborates with the HRIS team to understand and determine how new business processes impact reports. The Workday Reporting Lead is responsible for leading, mentoring, and training reporting teammates to ensure the best possible experience for our customers. The role will not have direct reports but will closely work with Workday Report Writers and Workday Report Specialists, coaching and providing feedback to them directly, as well as to the Management team.

Projects (50% of time)

  • Lead implementation of new Workday functional and reporting products
  • Utilize subject matter expertise in HRIS reporting by developing complex reports, layouts, and analytics for business purposes.
  • Serve as a Workday Reporting expert with deep knowledge of current functionality, design concepts, touch points with relevant functional areas (HCM, Compensation, Payroll, Benefits, Financials, Talent, Prism), and in consideration of future product direction.
  • Navigate Workday Business Processes and understand the impact on reporting
  • Evaluate and develop possible use cases for Workday Prism
  • Lead Workday Release for reporting
  • Conduct sessions with clients to analyze business requirements and provide solutions to complex business problems
  • Identify strategies, risks, and options for recommending approaches towards requirements for clients
  • Demonstrate design options using prototyping

Workday HCM report creation, maintenance, and optimization (30% of time)

  • Requirements gathering, build, test and debug Workday HCM reports & Dashboards
  • Analyze and translate functional specifications and change requests into technical specifications
  • Create reports out of HCM and other database systems as required by internal stakeholders
  • Prepare HR metrics to be presented upon request or on schedule by senior leadership
  • Review reports and calculated fields regularly to optimize performance
  • Document report functionality and design to facilitate ongoing maintenance
  • Provide troubleshooting and support for report execution failures
  • Develop and modify advanced reports for internal human resources and people leaders using Workday Report Writer
  • Research new Workday reporting & analytics features and functionality to determine how best to meet user needs
  • Support Workday’s biannual releases through impact analysis to changes to Workday’s data model and create reports and dashboards to aid in identification of populations for release testing

HCM reporting governance, support and education (20% of time)

  • Participate in report reviews, including understanding and ensuring security and data privacy standards
  • Partner with Workday Security team to maintain data and privacy standards
  • Work closely with other members of the Workday functional team and serve as a subject matter expert for others regarding reporting and calculated fields
  • Provide HCM data support for Human Resources staff, all associate end-users, and members of senior leadership
  • Maintain proficiency and level of knowledge with all talent systems
  • Assists with the support of all aspects of Human Resources as it relates to data requests, including but not limited to EEO-1, Affirmative Action Plan, and benefits census
  • Participate in delivery of reporting training
  • Train users on Workday reporting functions and available reports
  • Follow established standards and change management processes including report documentation

Minimum Requirements

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Human Resources, Finance or IT or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • At least 5 years of experience with Workday HCM and Workday reporting tools (e.g. Workday Report Writer, Prism Analytics, BIRT, Advanced reporting, Calculated Fields, Matrix, Trending and Composite); demonstrated knowledge of Workday dashboards, worksheets, and embedded analytics
  • At least 5 years of experience in project management and leadership in support of overall direction and delivery of analytic solutions
  • Experience in Human Resources and/or Recruiting functional background; ideally, in Public Accounting or Professional Services firm

Technical Skills

  • Demonstrated ability to conduct high level needs analysis from multiple data sources to produce complex reports, layouts, and analytics for business purposes
  • Knowledge of commonly used reports for Recruiting, Human Resources, Compensation, Payroll, and Benefits
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office suite, particularly Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • SQL knowledge
  • Strong problem solving, troubleshooting, and analytical skills

Leadership & Soft Skills

  • Ability to prioritize workload, manage competing priorities, execute tasks independently, providing timely follow-up and resolution, in order to meet deadlines
  • Strong written and oral communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills
  • Lead and mentor other reporting resources; actively share product knowledge with others to grow practice

At RSM, an employee’s pay at any point in their career is intended to reflect their experiences, performance, and skills for their current role. The salary range (or starting rate for interns and associates) for this role represents numerous factors considered in the hiring decisions including, but not limited to, education, skills, work experience, certifications, location, etc. As such, pay for the successful candidate(s) could fall anywhere within the stated range.

Compensation Range: $100,000 - $171,100

Individuals selected for this role will be eligible for a discretionary bonus based on firm and individual performance.
