Success leading this team requires a blend of product knowledge, underwriting savvy, and analytical prowess.As the Personal Lines State Management Leader, you will be responsible for developing the go to market strategies and plans for Personal Lines Product and ensuring that those strategies are aligned with the corporate strategy. This role is accountable for driving profitable growth by developing and deploying product, and pricing strategies at the state level that align with financial plans. This position monitors financial results across assigned customer segment to identify opportunities for improvement; modifies strategies and plans accordingly.
Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
Provides leadership to the PL product and Regulatory Solutions teams at state level to ensure short- and long-term goals are achieved in line with line leader expectations.
Leads the state product management leaders and their teams in delivery of proper risk selection, pricing, expense control and underwriting procedures to achieve financial goals. Monitors loss ratio, production, state regulations, competitive position and expense plans across states.
Ensures go-to-market strategies across each product line are executed effectively in partnership with sales and marketing.
Utilizes fully integrated distribution model to ensure capital is being utilized efficiently across all distribution partners at local level in partnership with Sales.
Provides insights and feedback to line leaders to ensure countrywide best practices are maintaining leading capabilities across product, pricing and underwriting.
Ensures there is ongoing monitoring and analysis of changes in statutory and regulatory requirements for Personal Lines products, along with the development of product documentation and any necessary forms or filings needed to align Personal Lines with legal and/or regulatory requirements in all states of operation.
Manages operational budgets to ensure expense dollars driving value where appropriate.
May perform other responsibilities as assigned.
Reporting Relationships: Reports to SVP, PL Product. Manages a team of Product and Regulatory Solutions professionals including AVPs and Directors.
Typical Skills and Experiences:
Education: Bachelor's degree or post graduate studies preferred.
Experience: Minimum of 15 years of experience in personal/commercial lines insurance, financial services, marketing, pricing, product management, underwriting or communication, including 10 years of leadership experience. Must have the ability to solve complex problems for Personal Lines Product and Underwriting needs.
Knowledge, Abilities and Skills: Strong understanding of the insurance industry and in-depth competitor knowledge. Demonstrated success leading multiple disciplines such as Product, Pricing, Sales, Underwriting, and/or Claims. Excellent ability to interact with peers and management, including verbal and written communication skills. Effective at interpreting and presenting complex information so that it is easily understood across a broad range of audiences. Strong strategic ability. Ability to effectively interact with executive leadership and frontline associates. Effective influencing skills.
Other criteria, including leadership skills, competencies and experiences may take precedence.
