The VP of Portfolio Management and Analytics is a key member of CU Student Choice’s senior leadership team. This highly skilled and experienced professional works collaboratively with clients and stakeholders across the organization to provide complex business analysis, modeling and strategic reporting for a $2+ billion consumer loan portfolio. This person will have significant influence and visibility in developing strategies that optimize portfolio risks and returns, improve customer experience and drive business growth. This person must leverage both technical and non-technical communication skills to deliver pertinent information to key stakeholders, including clients, Executive Management, and the Board of Directors.

 

Primary Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive analysis, modeling and reporting on various business aspects, such as account acquisition, credit policies, underwriting, business development, loan product development, collections effectiveness, financial forecasting, borrower segmentation, pre-screen marketing campaigns, champion / challenger testing, and portfolio attrition.
  • Proactively optimize risk, return and customer outcome tradeoffs through development of risk informed strategies across the various marketing channels, products, and customer segments.
  • Continuously assess loan credit quality and portfolio performance trends.
  • Manage analytical projects from design to presentation, ensuring findings are effectively communicated. 
  • Deliver business intelligence and KPI reporting to clients, Executive Management, and the Board of Directors. 
  • Manage the development and implementation of new models and methods for driving business growth, such as through the use of alternative underwriting data, cash flow analysis or custom credit scoring. 
  • Develop strong partnerships with IT, Operations, Business Development, Marketing, and Compliance to enhance business processes and advance business growth opportunities. 
  • Support the forecasting and reporting of key credit and financial metrics for budget projections and client cash-flow / ROA modeling.

 

Requirements:

  • Master’s degree in relevant quantitative field such as Economics, Finance, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or Business. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered in lieu of a Master’s degree. 
  • 7+ years of extensive experience in complex, data-driven analysis and problem solving, preferably in consumer lending / financial services.
  • Experience with statistical analysis and predictive modeling tools like Machine Learning, SAS, R or JMP preferred.
  • Strong collaborative and proactive working style. 
  • Superior written, verbal and presentation skills. 
  • Be inquisitive and attentive to detail.
  • Capital Markets experience a plus.

  • Physically able to participate in training sessions, presentations, and meetings
  • Some travel is required for meeting with management, employees, venders and occasionally credit union clients
