Location of Position
This position is hybrid position, with a minimum of 2 days a week required on-site in our NYC office. Travel to job sites will be required on an as-needed basis.

Position Summary
The VP, Preconstruction and Estimating role will manage the transition of CleanCapital’s development projects and portfolio into the construction group, support new-build assets in the acquisitions stage, run Request for Proposal processes, generate indicative price estimates, manage EPC and manufacturer partner relationships, and review and assess upcoming shifts in labor and material markets.

Core Responsibilities
Preconstruction & Estimating Duties
  • Coordinate detailed estimates (conceptual, schematic, design development, construction) based on market knowledge, EPC outreach, and external experts/resources as needed.
  • Assemble cost estimates including general conditions, insurance, and bonds.
  • Prepare RFP bid packages and coordinate bidding process, including RFI responses and site visits.
  • Review and descope RFP bids, assuring that the estimates are accurate, complete and reflect the actual requirements of the project. This includes assuring that there are an adequate number of qualified and financially sound subcontractor proposals received and evaluated.
  • Visit potential projects to verify site conditions, meet with prospective bidders, meet with landowners, etc.
  • Plan and lead the preconstruction strategy on the project or estimate.
  • Assure that potential risk factors, including technical, contractual, and constructability risks, have been evaluated and reviewed with senior management.
  • Maintain EPC and vendor relationships, including updating the CleanCapital prequalification process and identifying future partners.
  • Source equipment pricing information from vendors directly, strategically determining vendors offering the best pricing and packages and guaranteeing pricing is inclusive of all current tariffs and risks.
  • Review contracts and major purchase order for compliance with the documents and the estimate.
  • Coordinate with managers on equipment procurement, storage, and delivery processes.
  • Generate preliminary construction schedules in scheduling software for projects in preconstruction.
  • Utilize CleanCapital budgeting procedures to analyze project costs and forecast cash management needs.
  • Organize and lead the transition meeting between the development and the construction team.
  • Keep current on changes and trends in methods of construction and materials, construction costs, wage rates, fringes and working rules.
  • Keep current on changes and trends in policy that will affect construction pricing and preconstruction strategies.
Education Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, supply chain management, or logistics preferred.
Technical Skills and Experience
  • 5-7+ years of experience in the following areas:
    • Estimating and takeoffs
    • Budgeting, cost control, and invoicing
    • Scheduling
    • Contract/PO review and negotiation
    • Preconstruction processes
  • Must have previous experience as an Estimator, Preconstruction Manager, and/or Project Manager
  • Must have previous experience in renewable energy
