The Role:
The Vice President of Health Plan Partnerships (HPP) will lead Hazel’s strategy for securing, expanding, and optimizing health plan contracts to drive sustainable revenue growth. Reporting to the President, this role is responsible for structuring a national payer contracting approach and ensuring Hazel builds the strongest possible network presence across 20+ states. This leader must balance strategic business development with operational excellence—securing expansive, financially sustainable contracts while building the dynamic team and infrastructure for execution at scale. The VP will bring a deep understanding of the payer landscape, a proven track record in leading network development and network strategy, negotiating contracts, and expertise in value-based care (VBC), positioning Hazel as the leader in school-centered healthcare and charting the future of innovative payer partnerships.

What You’ll Do:
Health Plan Contracting & Strategy
- Develop and execute Hazel’s national health plan strategy, ensuring Hazel is in-network across all key payers in 20+ states and identifying opportunities to expand partnerships that align with the company’s growth goals.
- Lead payer contract negotiations, ensuring comprehensive network contracting with Medicaid and commercial plans, competitive reimbursement rates, and favorable terms to strengthen Hazel’s financial sustainability.
- Assess and expand Hazel’s health plan footprint, identifying coverage gaps by state and securing network agreements to drive revenue growth.
- Define and implement a systematic approach to managing health plan relationships, ensuring contracts are monitored, optimized, and renegotiated effectively.
- Advance delegated credentialing capabilities, streamlining provider enrollment to accelerate speed-to-revenue.
- Validate new contracting constructs, including VBC models, positioning Hazel for long-term success in innovative payment arrangements.
Strategic Leadership & Market Positioning
- Cultivate and maintain executive-level relationships with key stakeholders at national and regional health plans.
- Embed Hazel as the leader in pediatric school-centered healthcare, ensuring representation in industry thought leadership, conferences, and partnerships.
- Develop and refine Hazel’s health plan value proposition, crafting compelling messaging and materials that specialists can consistently communicate.
- Analyze market trends, competitor strategies, and regulatory developments to inform Hazel’s payer strategy and positioning.
Team Leadership & Operational Execution
- Build and lead a high-performing Health Plan Partnerships team, including recruitment, talent development, and performance management.
- Build repeatable, scalable processes and systems that streamline payer engagement, provider enrollment, and claims management, reducing barriers to revenue realization.
- Develop reporting and analytics frameworks to track contract performance, network penetration, and financial impact, ensuring data-driven decision-making.
- Drive cross-functional collaboration, working closely with sales, finance, clinical, and policy teams to optimize billing, credentialing, and reimbursement workflows and align health plan strategy with Hazel’s broader business objectives.

- Strong negotiation and relationship management skills, with a track record of securing favorable payer contracts and managing executive-level engagements.

- Highly analytical and data-driven, able to assess market dynamics, forecast revenue impact, and drive strategic decision-making.
- Excellent communication skills, capable of translating complex healthcare and financial concepts into clear, compelling narratives for stakeholders.

Total compensation for this role is market competitive, with a base salary range of $250,000 - $275,000, a 401k match, healthcare coverage, paid time off, and a broad range of other benefits and perks. Review our benefits at Hazel Health Benefits.
