JOB SUMMARY: 

The Vice President of Construction will be a key member of the leadership team, responsible for overseeing the construction of new Sky Zone locations as well as the renovation of existing ones. This individual will manage the end-to-end process for all construction-related activities, from site selection and design to budgeting, project management, and compliance. The VP of Construction will ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the high-quality standards expected of the Sky Zone brand.

Leadership & Strategy: 

  • Provide strategic leadership for the construction department, ensuring alignment with the company’s growth objectives and operational goals. 

  • Develop and implement construction strategies that support Sky Zone’s expansion plans, including new builds, remodels, and facility upgrades. 

  • Foster a culture of safety, quality, and operational excellence throughout all construction projects. 

 

Project Management & Execution: 

  • Lead and manage all phases of construction for Sky Zone parks, including site selection, design, permitting, contractor selection, budgeting, scheduling, and post-construction review. 

  • Oversee a team of project managers, engineers, and external contractors to ensure smooth coordination and timely execution of projects. 

  • Establish project timelines, budget forecasts, and reporting mechanisms to track progress and resolve issues promptly. 

 

Vendor & Contractor Management: 

  • Identify, select, and manage relationships with general contractors, subcontractors, architects, and vendors to support all construction and renovation needs. 

  • Negotiate contracts and oversee vendor performance to ensure adherence to quality standards and project timelines. 

 

Budgeting & Cost Control: 

  • Develop and manage the overall construction budget for all projects, ensuring cost-effectiveness while maintaining quality standards. 

  • Monitor and control construction costs, mitigate risks, and implement value-engineering solutions to keep projects within budget. 

 

Design & Compliance: 

  • Collaborate with architects, designers, and internal teams to ensure that new facilities reflect the Sky Zone brand and meet operational requirements. 

  • Ensure that all projects comply with local, state, and federal regulations, including safety, building codes, zoning laws, and accessibility standards. 

 

Cross-functional Collaboration: 

  • Work closely with the Development, Operations, and Real Estate teams to align construction initiatives with overall business and operational strategies. 

  • Provide expert advice and guidance on construction matters to senior leadership, offering solutions for any challenges that arise. 

 

Reporting & Analysis: 

  • Provide regular status reports to senior management on project progress, budgets, risks, and any issues that need resolution. 

  • Analyze post-project performance and identify lessons learned to improve future construction processes. 

 

QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • At least 10+ years of experience in construction management, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role overseeing large-scale, multi-site construction projects. 

  • Experience in managing the construction of retail, entertainment, or hospitality spaces, preferably with exposure to franchise operations. 

  • Proven track record of successfully leading and delivering complex construction projects on time and within budget. 

  • Strong knowledge of construction processes, project management methodologies, and safety standards. 

  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to lead cross-functional teams. 

  • Expertise in budget management, cost estimation, and project scheduling. 

  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to changing priorities. 

  • Proficiency in construction management software (e.g., Procore, Buildertrend) and MS Office Suite. 

SKILLS: 

  • Highly organized with excellent attention to detail. 

  • Strong negotiation and vendor management skills. 

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. 

  • A passion for Sky Zone’s mission and values, with a focus on delivering an exceptional experience to internal and external customers. 

 

EDUCATION: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a related field.  

  • A Master’s degree or professional certifications (e.g., PMP, LEED) is a plus.  

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: 

  • This position requires the ability to move around in parks with or without reasonable accommodation.

Compensation range is $180-$220k + bonus based on qualifications, experience, and performance. Full-time employees at Sky Zone enjoy a competitive benefits package including medical, dental, and vision coverage along with a 401k plan with company matching. Eligibility for 401k is based on age and tenure requirements.
