We are seeking a professional like you who lives on the West Coast to develop and drive the regional strategy for technical service and customer support. You will develop research-based technical concepts and create unique value propositions for the target market area. Further, you will motivate and train sales and marketing team members to achieve or exceed targets, maintain relationships with customers and universities to promote BASF products and assist in developing global R & D goals. You will also be responsible for identifying unrealized customer potential in terms of quality and application of pharma solutions products.

As a Technical Service Manager - West Coast Based, U.S., you create chemistry by...

 

  • Conducting regional (West Coast) customer and application dialogues to understand needs from a technical perspective, leading regional seminars/workshops and trainings with customers (including distributors) to disseminate technical expertise and support sales efforts.
  • Understanding and conveying regional technical key selling arguments, “Unique Value Proposition” (UVP) of our products, as you participate in regional technical conferences to share and gather technical expertise and look for innovation potential.
  • Recommending and developing meaningful technical product promotion literature in coordination with the global communication and the global technical marketing teams. Additionally, you will support field sales and marketing with technical product information, application methods, and customer complaint resolution. 
  • Identifying regional gaps between customer needs and competitors' products to differentiate BASF-products vs. competitors and look for innovations. 
  • Improving regional market intelligence, you will identify and assess new products from competitors, new processing technology, new raw materials, market trends, and upcoming needs from a short-term and long-term perspective.
  • Running flawless regional product launches in line with global expectations. 
  • Developing necessary contacts with counterparts within the industry, government agencies, and academic institutions involved with product marketing, regulatory, application, innovation, new product development, and technical research. 
  • Ensuring compliance with all BASF policies and governmental regulations in Safety, Ecology and Eco Efficiency, Sustainability, and Traceability, as well as regulatory compliance of the BASF Pharma Solutions portfolio in North America. 
  • Helping to drive the new strategic direction for BASF’s pharmaceutical business as the regional technical expert.

If you...

 

  • Possess a bachelor’s degree or advanced degree, preferably in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Biotechnology or related Health Sciences fields.
  • Have a minimum of five years of experience in the (Bio) Pharmaceutical industry.  Technical Service experience in the (Bio) Pharmaceutical industry is a plus.
  • Have developed wide network of formulation / Manufacturing Science & Technology scientists/process engineers within the (Bio) Pharmaceutical Industry and in-depth technical knowledge of the BASF Pharma portfolio.
  • Can communicate effectively with customers and regional and global colleagues.
  • Possess strong analytical skills.
  • Have solid project management skills.
  • Possess an unwavering commitment to compliance.
  • Have the ability to communicate effectively, not only within North America but also with global colleagues including Technical Services laboratories, Technical Marketing and Strategic Marketing to help drive the new strategic direction for BASF’s pharmaceutical business.
  • Are available to travel within North America, estimated at 40% of time.

Pay transparency

 

BASF is committed to pay transparency practices. The competitive Pay Range for this role is $132,800 - $166,000. Actual pay will be determined based on education, certifications, experience, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
