What you’ll do

Effective Technical Program Managers at Stripe always bias towards driving the right solutions for internal and external users, and delivering impact for them above all else. You’ll do this even when it’s not the easiest path for us or our teams, and requires trade-off decisions. You will look ahead and around corners to enable our teams to operate at their best, and for opportunities to eliminate the unnecessary in delivering results.

Responsibilities

  • Independently define programs for specific problems. This includes scoping, setting objectives, defining success criteria, and influencing resource allocation to solve for it
  • Consistently use frameworks for prioritization and decision making within your programs
  • Use your broad perspective to identify obstacles/issues, communicate to stakeholders, proactively plan to address the obstacles/issues, and look for ways to prevent the recurrence of issues
  • Assemble a clear understanding of our internal and external users’ needs, leveraging your product sense to drive solution delivery. You will represent user voices to all stakeholders including engineering and other stakeholders involved in delivering solutions.
  • Drive clarity across all stakeholders on the goal, problem and outcomes the team is working towards. You are known as a clarifier and enabler for your teammates.
  • Develop a strong POV of product development at Stripe. To scale your impact, you will collaborate with the appropriate stakeholders to define programs with clear and measurable outcomes that adapt it to meet our users’ needs. You will bias towards high-velocity yet durable decision making. You will frequently examine the program from the perspectives of your stakeholders to identify opportunities and gaps.
  • Understand the technical problems that need to be solved, and work closely with necessary stakeholders of the engineering teams, technical systems/processes involved to define and manage the most effective way to enable teams to deliver solutions.
  • Bring rapid clarity to ambiguous situations, resolve them effectively, communicate decisions efficiently, and enable teams to move towards implementing solutions. You will bring your experience and contextual knowledge to bear on the problems that teams need to solve

Who you are

We’re looking for someone who meets the minimum requirements to be considered for the role. If you meet these requirements, you are encouraged to apply. The preferred qualifications are a bonus, not a requirement.

Minimum requirements

  • 10+ years of product management or technical program management experience
  • Experience providing program management during all phases of software development
  • Proven track record of defining and executing complex programs across multiple functions
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to establish strong relationships with stakeholders and senior leaders
  • Thrive in solving ambiguous problems and see opportunities where others see chaos
  • Relentless focus on users and solving for their needs and wants
  • Have strong prioritization frameworks to drive development for the product team and customers. You will have a strong understanding of our product roadmaps and help leaders navigate how to balance meeting the roadmap and balancing priority customer needs
  • Understand API design, domain driven design, and be able to read and interpret high level system architecture diagrams

Preferred qualifications

    • Experience collaborating with sales and technical implementation/activation teams
    • Experience with customer facing roles (e.g. customer success management)

Hybrid work at Stripe

This role is available either in an office or a remote location (typically, 35+ miles or 56+ km from a Stripe office).

Office-assigned Stripes spend at least 50% of the time in a given month in their local office or with users. This hits a balance between bringing people together for in-person collaboration and learning from each other, while supporting flexibility about how to do this in a way that makes sense for individuals and their teams.

A remote location, in most cases, is defined as being 35 miles (56 kilometers) or more from one of our offices. While you would be welcome to come into the office for team/business meetings, on-sites, meet-ups, and events, our expectation is you would regularly work from home rather than a Stripe office. Stripe does not cover the cost of relocating to a remote location. We encourage you to apply for roles that match the location where you currently or plan to live.

Pay and benefits

The annual US base salary range for this role is $189,300 - $283,800. For sales roles, the range provided is the role’s On Target Earnings ("OTE") range, meaning that the range includes both the sales commissions/sales bonuses target and annual base salary for the role. This salary range may be inclusive of several career levels at Stripe and will be narrowed during the interview process based on a number of factors, including the candidate’s experience, qualifications, and location. Applicants interested in this role and who are not located in the US may request the annual salary range for their location during the interview process.

Additional benefits for this role may include: equity, company bonus or sales commissions/bonuses; 401(k) plan; medical, dental, and vision benefits; and wellness stipends.

We look forward to hearing from you
