A Brief Overview
The Senior Technical Platform Engineer supports core functions of the health system's EHR platform to enable cost-effective, high quality, efficient, and safe patient care. This position will assist in implementation, administration, and support of assigned systems. The position will have a strong working knowledge of either Epic Server Systems or Client Systems operations, as well as related operating systems (Unix/Linux or Windows)s, IIS, or IRIS Database administration. This position implements, maintains, and troubleshoots ecosystems of high complexity with some direct supervision. This position will also assist in clearly communicating, and documenting complex concepts and issues related to applications, interfaces, data structures, and workflows across the organization. This position also assists in managing customer relationships with application, infrastructure and other technical platform teams.

What you will do
  • Provide 24/7 on call coverage as required
  • Provide second tier support of application incidents reported through the Service Desk
  • Respond to system issues, and educate junior staff on issue prevention
  • Collaborate with your team on growth, maintenance, expected technical issues
  • Maintain high availability and disaster recovery capabilities of all critical systems.
  • Assist in the implementation documented disaster recovery procedures for your area of specialty
  • Participate in periodic disaster recovery exercises
  • Maintain an environment management strategy and keep all environments are in sync
  • Implement comprehensive data management plans
  • Implement upgrade, update, and disaster recovery specialty area plans
  • Maintain multi-site systems that provide training, non-production, production, and disaster recovery.
  • Continually assess and make recommendations for performance enhancements
  • Continually identify areas of opportunity for automation and assist in internal initiatives to optimize resource utilization
  • Utilize operational procedures for new techniques, and technologies
  • Provide feedback on optimization of procedures
  • Assist in maintaining documentation of the overall architecture of your area of specialty
  • Assist other technical platform and application teams to document data flow and interactions across the EHR ecosystem
  • Participate in the education of junior staff in all aspects of your area of specialty
  • Consult with application teams to implement solutions to reach their project goals
  • Assist in implementation of software and hardware upgrades, updates, enhancements and implementation
  • Assist in maintaining documentation for all assigned initiatives that include work effort, accountability, and deliverables
  • Collaborate with other technical teams, application teams, and vendor support to respond to support requests
  • Participate in team and cross-team meetings and assist in maintaining appropriate documentation
  • Perform your assigned work with some supervision
  • Manage customer relationships with application and infrastructure teams
  • You will be accountable for the availability and performance of your area of specialty
  • You will act as a technology subject leader in your area of specialty
  • Practice CICARE principles

Education Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in information technology, computer science, business administration, management systems, electronics technology, computer engineering, health information management or a directly-related field from an accredited college or university. Extended experience in system administration and Epic server system/client administration can be used in lieu Preferred
  • Must obtain Epic certification in relevant module(s) within 3 months of employment date Required

Experience Qualifications
  • At least 5 years of experience in Windows (Desktop or Server), Unix, IIS or Database administration Required
  • 4+ years of experience in Epic Server Systems or Epic Client Systems administration Preferred
  • Extensive experience with Unix or PowerShell script development in production environments Preferred

  • Knowledge of a variety of server operating systems, storage systems, databases, scripting languages, monitoring and job scheduling tools

Base Pay Scale: Generally starting at $60.92 - $80.73 per hour

The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training. This pay scale is not a promise of a particular wage.
