The Technical Enablement Coach (Technical Agile Coach) at RGA is a hands-on engineering and delivery expert who partners with development teams to accelerate release cycles, optimize CI/CD pipelines, improve test automation, and implement DevOps practices. This role focuses on empowering teams with modern technical capabilities to enhance delivery speed, quality, and reliability.

Operating within the Agile Center of Excellence (ACE), the Technical Enablement Coach plays a critical role in helping RGA scale its development practices while maintaining a strong emphasis on measurable outcomes, continuous improvement, and operational excellence. The ideal candidate combines technical depth with coaching expertise, enabling teams to implement best practices, leverage modern tooling, and adopt automation strategies to deliver high-quality products faster.

  • Advanced scrum master skills; demonstrated ability to evaluate product owner objectives and scope for feasibility, understanding and planning to meet success criteria.

  • Ability to quickly adapt to changing circumstances and work under tight timelines; demonstrated ability to adjust to changing priorities and manage team dynamics in stressful conditions.

  • Advanced knowledge and experience with various software development methodologies; demonstrated ability to discern "fit for purpose" methods and apply rationale to produce desired project outcomes.

  • Advanced communication and change management skills; demonstrated ability to influence a wide range of audiences, from Individual contributors to senior leaders.

  • Ability to coach teams to reach their highest potential through formal training and informal conversations.

  • Ability to work with multiple scrum teams concurrently.

Key Responsibilities:

Technical Coaching and Enablement

  • Partner with development teams to optimize CI/CD pipelines for faster, more reliable delivery cycles.

  • Provide hands-on coaching in test automation, test-driven development (TDD), pair programming, and code reviews to ensure high-quality outputs.

  • Introduce modern deployment strategies, including trunk-based development, feature toggles, and canary releases to reduce risk and increase flexibility.

  • Guide teams in implementing monitoring, logging, and observability to improve feedback loops and operational insight.

Delivery Optimization and Efficiency

  • Identify bottlenecks in delivery pipelines and collaborate with teams to improve flow and reduce lead times.

  • Promote practices like shift-left testing and infrastructure-as-code to create faster more predictable delivery cycles.

  • Encourage adoption of DevOps principles to enable seamless collaboration between development and operations teams.

  • Facilitate workshops and training sessions to upskill teams on tools and techniques that support continuous delivery.

Continuous Improvement and Metrics

  • Establish and track meaningful metrics such as deployment frequency, lead time for changes, change failure rate, and mean time to recovery (MTTR) to measure delivery performance.

  • Build dashboards to visualize pipeline health, test coverage, and code quality metrics for transparency and accountability.

  • Encourage teams to experiment, learn, and improve through iterative changes and technical spikes.

What a Technical Enablement Coach Should Have in Their Toolbox

Core Competencies:

  • CI/CD Tools: Proficiency in platforms like Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, Azure DevOps, or GitHub Actions.

  • Test Automation Frameworks: Hands-on experience with tools such as Selenium, Cypress, JUnit, or NUnit.

  • Infrastructure-as-Code: Experience with tools like Terraform and Ansible for managing cloud infrastructure.

  • Cloud and Containerization: Knowledge of platforms like AWS, Azure, Kubernetes, and Docker for scalable deployments.

  • Version Control and Branching Strategies: Deep understanding of Git, GitFlow, and trunk-based development.

  • Monitoring and Observability: Familiarity with tools like Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, or Splunk for performance monitoring.

  • DevOps Practices: Expertise in automated deployments, continuous integration, and continuous delivery strategies.

Coaching and Facilitation Skills:

  • Ability to mentor teams and leaders on adopting technical best practices while balancing speed and quality.

  • Skilled in facilitating workshops, pair programming sessions, and hands-on technical demonstrations.

  • Proven experience translating complex technical concepts into actionable strategies for teams with varying levels of expertise.

  • Reduction in lead time for code changes.

  • Increase in deployment frequency and pipeline reliability.

  • Higher test coverage and faster feedback loops.

  • Reduction in change failure rates and time to recovery (MTTR).

  • Adoption of CI/CD pipelines and automated testing frameworks across teams.

Work Experience:

  • 3+ Years as a Scrum Master/Agile Coach in an agile and/or hybrid environment and a working knowledge of Agile Lifecycle Management tools is required.

Licenses and Certifications:

  • Must possess formal certification as either a Scrum Master or an Agile Coach

Compensation Range:

$123,500.00 - $184,050.00 Annual

Base pay varies depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience and market location. In addition, RGA provides an annual bonus plan that includes all roles and some positions are eligible for participation in our long-term equity incentive plan. RGA also maintains a full range of health, retirement, and other employee benefits.
