What You'll Be Doing in the role of SVP, Marketing & Communications:

The Sr. VP of Marketing & Communications is a difference maker, innovative and forward-thinking marcom executive focused on driving transformational results.

The Sr. VP of Marketing & Communications is responsible for developing and executing the global strategic marketing and communication initiatives to drive the organization’s brand reputation, sustained and diversified revenue growth, and foster constituent engagement with donors, partners and collaborators. This role will lead a high-performing team and collaborate cross-functionally to align marketing strategies with overall organizational objectives.

The position will develop and execute an integrated, proactive strategic marketing and communication plan. Advance Komen’s goals, including brand identity and reputation; broadening awareness of its programs and impact across key audiences.  Create strategic initiatives to retain, reactivate and recruit donors, partners and collaborators. Possesses the ability to be flexible, collaborative, cooperative and data-driven with a unique blend of creativity and organizational understanding. Foster positive relationships and interaction with all levels of management and balance short-term operating needs with long- term strategic initiatives.

This position is responsible for leading, developing, and implementing strategic and tactical programs for all marketing and communications, to include all brand development, public relations, corporate development activations and community development marketing programs.  In addition, this position oversees external advertising and promotion and will work collaboratively with corporate partnerships and community development teams to leverage all Komen-owned platforms, and the production of all video and digital media campaigns. This position will lead all public-facing strategic marketing to include brand development, public relations, external marketing and market performance analysis.

This position will report directly to the CEO and will be responsible for overall external marketing, messaging and branding activities for the organization.  This position is responsible for external communications, crisis communications, issues management, organizational context for decisions, and fostering organization trust and long-term growth against strategic objectives.  

Leading the marketing and communications team, this position helps to set the overarching external marketing strategy for Komen and acts as steward for the brand. Develops and executes marketing programs that extend brand awareness, drive funding growth, donor engagement, and enhances service excellence. Has primary responsibility for developing, implementing and monitoring the annual marketing plan and handles all external marketing programs including market research, data analytics, and market segmentation.  

What You Will Bring to the Table

STRATEGIC LEADERSHIP:

Create compelling and innovative marcom strategies to propel transformational results.

Develop and implement comprehensive marketing and communication strategies that support Komen’s brand, mission and revenue generation across the organization.

Monitor industry trends and competitive landscape to identify opportunities for growth and innovation.

BRAND MANAGEMENT:

Oversee brand positioning and messaging across all channels to ensure consistency and alignment with Komen’s mission and values that drive growth and expand the organization’s impact globally

Oversee market research and seek competitive intelligence to meet changing market and competitive conditions that drive growth short- and long-term

Lead initiatives to enhance brand awareness and reputation. 

MARKETING STRATEGY:

Direct all marketing efforts, including audience segmentation and insights, brand development and growth, content creation, public relations, and marketing event management. Collaborate with corporate partnerships and community development teams to develop, support and manage the integration of marketing and promotion initiatives to drive organizational strategies. 

Translate business objectives into campaigns that maximize marketing strategies and opportunities. 

Analyze market trends and constituent insights to inform marketing campaigns.

CONSTITUENT & TEAM ENGAGEMENT:

Collaborate with senior leadership and across the organization to align marketing initiatives with organizational objectives.

Provide guidance and support to community / local markets. Create marketing and communications processes and procedures to ensure consistency and best practices across all Komen communities.

Integrate local marketing opportunities into the annual marketing communications strategic plan, providing timely messaging and solutions that motivate audiences to take actions that drive growth and impact for the organization

Serve as a key spokesperson for Komen as approved and directed, engaging with media and industry influencers.

COMMUNICATION & PUBLIC RELATIONS:

Serve as a key spokesperson for Komen as approved and directed, engaging with media and industry influencers.

Develop and execute a global full funnel marketing and content strategy that delivers against marketing metrics, including awareness, consideration, engagement and conversion

Ability to inform, inspire and engage internal and external teams in emerging digital marketing and social media opportunities that drive growth and impact for the mission.

Manage the day-to-day workflow through the cross-functional creative teams while conceptualizing the integrated message to various stakeholder groups at all touch points.

TEAM DEVELOPMENT:

Build, mentor and lead a diverse team of world-class marketing and communication professionals.

Foster a culture of creativity, innovation, accountability, continuous improvement and data-driven, transformational results 

BUDGET MANAGEMENT:

Develop and manage the marketing and communications budget, ensuring efficient and effective allocation of resources.

Leverage and utilization of in-kind media opportunities to increase Komen’s reach.

Measure and report on the effectiveness of marketing campaigns and initiatives.

We Already Know You Will Also Have

Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, advertising or related field; master’s degree preferred.

15+ years marketing and communications, with a minimum of 5 years in a senior leadership role.  Specific experience in brand strategy, creative content, digital marketing, advertising and public relations.  Current senior-level experience in global branding is highly desirable.

15+ years of experience in senior level marketing, branding and PR position overseeing multi-channel marketing.  Proven track record of developing high impact / successful marketing strategies and campaigns that drive results.

10+ years of experience directing a team of marketing, PR and creative staff involved in all phases of marketing and advertising production.

Proven track record of increasing revenue and brand awareness.

Ability to effectively create and manage budgets, develop forecasts, and reconcile department needs against changing company priorities and performance.

Progressive career with superior creative, analytic, and strategic skills with the ability to translate marketing strategies into content and digital campaigns that are consistent with the brand vision.

Demonstrated ability to present, articulate and sell concepts to senior leadership by discussing how those concepts meet the brand’s strategic marketing and financial objectives.

Strong leadership and team-building skills with the ability to inspire and motivate others.  Demonstrated ability to delegate and manage an in-house team and manage multiple outside resources.

Experience in budget creation / management and strong data analysis skills. Ability to work within established scheduling parameters, negotiate effectively with outside vendors and manage department activities to ensure teamwork and a successful flow of work through the organization.

Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.  Strong verbal, written and presentation skills.

Prefer prior experience with a not-for-profit or cause-oriented organization.  

Agency experience considered a plus.  

Supervisory and media spokesperson experience is preferred.

Approximate salary $176,000 to $255,000/annually, exact compensation ranges are based on various factors including the labor market, job level, internal equity and budget. Exact salary offers will be determined by factors such as the candidate's skills, experience and geographic location.
