Summary:  New Mexico State University’s Student Records Office and Global Campus seek a Student Record Specialist who will ensure the accuracy and integrity of NMSU student records by managing transfer equivalencies in the Student Information System (Banner), analyzing transfer credits, providing responsive student services, ensuring compliance with records regulations, training faculty, staff, and students, supervising student employees, and performing related duties.

Classification Summary:
Under general direction, responsible for coordination of the collection, maintenance, analysis and distribution of administrative information used to produce university reports and special project reports which require analysis and comparison.

Classification Standard Duties:
Assumes general responsibility for the collecting, editing, processing, and distribution of data required in the university data information systems. Assumes direct responsibility for the collection, editing, processing and distribution of several university administrative information system through a liaison role with academic and administrative offices and data-processing personnel. Consults with academic and administrative departments concerning the importance of data requirements, and aids in providing feedback information to them. Provides assistance in the preparation of special analyses and reports to the university administration and various departments. Recommends and implements new operating methods to improve data flow, collection, editing, processing and distribution. Recommends and implements new standards and procedures for administrative information. Assists in the design, development and implementation of computerized data files and information systems within the university administration. Performs related work as required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
KNOWLEDGE:Knowledge of university and department policies and procedures. Knowledge of the principles and practices of organization and administration; principles of supervision, training and performance evaluation. Knowledge of laboratory and field research; university structure and function.; SKILLS:short- and long-term planning; problem analysis and resolution; report preparation and presentation; interpersonal and organizational communication, both oral and written.; ABILITIES:Ability to direct, evaluate, train and supervise the work of assigned personnel; develop and maintain effective working relationships; maintain accurate and orderly records; use independent judgment and initiative; organize and direct activities; analyze and evaluate information; respond quickly to requests from university administrators, legislators and stakeholders; communicate verbally and in writing about technical topics to general audience.

Job Duties and Responsibilities
The Student Record Specialist is a critical position in the maintenance and integrity of NMSU students' records. The primary responsibilities of this position include Student Information System (Banner) transfer table equivalency set up and maintenance, analysis and coding of individual transfer student previously earned credits, responsive and accurate service to prospective and current students, compliance with records management and retention regulations, faculty and staff training on transfer equivalencies, student training and guidance related to the various transfer and credit for prior learning processes, supervision of student employees, and other duties as assigned.
