Job Purpose and Overview

The Strategic Sourcing Manager I will work under general supervision negotiating and managing contracts, creating strategies to leverage opportunities while managing risks to optimize results to benefit Dawn Foods.   

This is a remote home-based position with the requirement to travel to the corporate Jackson, MI office 3 days a month. It is preferred that the candidate is available in the EST or CST time zone.   

What will you do as a Strategic Sourcing Manager I at Dawn Foods? 

• Under general supervision negotiates and manages contracts in accordance with policies and procedures, manages risk, and initiates strategies to drive productivity, quality, and service.  
• Manage and negotiate portfolio structure and contracts while delivering results.  
• Create strategies and modify them quickly to take advantage of opportunities and manage risks. Communicate in all forms and construct presentations for review with Senior Management  
• Manage problems and offer compelling solutions based on facts.  
• Serves as the internal and external expert for the Procurement function for their categories.  
• Create, manage, and stimulate the creative process of others to deliver new solutions; Construct compelling strategic opportunities.  
• Optimize team and personal results via appropriate prioritization.  
• Demonstrates the “Dawn Values” of Team Dawn and supports the Circle of Excellence.

What Does It Take to be a Strategic Sourcing Manager I at Dawn Foods?  

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance, Business Administration, Supply Chain, or related field with 3 years of related work experience or 7 years of related work experience in lieu of a degree.   
• Preferred experience of managing a portfolio.   
• Knowledge of general supply chain processes, procedures, and inventory management concepts is required.  
• Strong negotiation, strategic thinking, and communications skills; Ability to work cross-functionally with various departments  
• Potential to expand portfolio scope into other related areas.  
• Process-orientated facilitator of Strategic Sourcing bid & negotiation process (RFI, RFQ, & award) 
• Proficiency with EXCEL, ACCESS, and PowerPoint; SAP experience preferred.  
• Proficiency with data extraction using ERP systems.  
• Food distribution/manufacturing experience is highly preferred.
