We are seeking a dynamic and forward-thinking Strategic Planning & Development Analyst to join our highly matrixed team supporting the Collins Mission Systems business unit. This mid-level role plays a critical part in portfolio optimization, growth strategy, and development efforts. The analyst will conduct strategic analysis, source and vet M&A opportunities, and support investment prioritization to drive senior leadership decision-making. Key deliverables include gap analysis, M&A and divestiture pipelines, target analyses, and portfolio evaluations focused on business attractiveness and strategic fit.

This role requires both strategic acumen and hands-on analytical skills, as the analyst will provide behind-the-scenes research and analysis while also briefing senior leaders on actionable insights.

What You Will Do

  • M&A Pipeline Ownership: Proactively source, track, and vet potential M&A opportunities, contributing to the larger MA&D team’s efforts

  • Strategic Alignment & Target Analysis: Conduct strategic assessments of M&A targets, including basic financial modeling and alignment with business goals

  • Portfolio Analysis: Evaluate the current portfolio’s strategic fit and business attractiveness, identifying opportunities for optimization, growth, or further evaluation

  • Industry Trends Analysis: Assess industry and competitive trends and develop implications for the business

  • M&A Project Support: In collaboration with Collins and RTX Corporate Development, actively support all stages of M&A transactions in strategic alignment with Mission Systems

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work across all business functions to gather inputs, build alignment, and deliver strategic insights that inform senior leadership decisions

  • Strategic Briefing & Presentation: Prepare and deliver high-impact presentations for senior leaders, providing unique perspectives and encouraging thought-provoking discussions

  • Change Agent: Actively challenge conventional thinking, navigate difficult conversations with tact and skill, and drive new ways of approaching problems and opportunities

What You Must Have

  • Typically requires a University Degree and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 12 years of relevant experience

  • 5+ years of experience in strategy, finance, corporate development, or related fields

  • Experience with strategic frameworks (e.g., SWOT, Porter’s Five Forces, Ansoff Matrix) and corporate development concepts

  • Experience with financial investment analysis and basic financial modeling

  • Experience with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills, including data visualization and presentation design

What We Prefer

  • Master’s degree in Business, Finance, Analytics, or a related field preferred

  • Aerospace and Defense industry experience, including knowledge of regulatory requirements

  • Experience conducting research, market analysis, and strategic assessments

  • M&A transaction and integration experience, including the evaluation of post-acquisition synergies and risks

  • Executive presence, with experience briefing and interacting with senior leaders

  • Proficiency in data analytics frameworks and statistical or predictive tools

  • Familiarity with data science languages (e.g., SQL, Python, R)

  • Experience with Power BI and Tableau data visualization tools

The salary range for this role is 101,000 USD - 203,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Specific benefits are dependent upon the specific business unit as well as whether or not the position is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement.
