Job Description

Information about the Role, Line of Business and Team:

We are currently seeking to hire a Staff Attorney to join our Accident and Health Legal department. A&H Legal is responsible for contract development and negotiation, litigation management and any other miscellaneous legal support to the various disciplines.

 

While reporting directly into the Specialty Business Unit (SBU,) the Staff Attorney will simultaneously support the Medical Business Unit (MBU), allowing the Staff Attorney to develop the requisite product knowledge and skill sets to eventually independently support an Eatontown profit center. The Staff Counsel will receive guidance and direction from VP Counsel – SBU and VP Counsel -- MBU, depending on the program / project.

 

What you will do:

  • Perform the following functions:
    • Claim Reviews – claim review requests (e.g. Attorney Demand letters, editing / drafting response, etc.); and
    • Regulatory Reviews – regulatory complaint reviews and/or responses for proper reporting; and
    • Claims Litigation – assist with claim litigation, including case summary, settlement negotiation and release development.
  • Draft Producer Service Agreements, Program Management Service Agreements, and Administrative Service Agreements; Licensing and Vendor Agreements, NDAs, and other various agreements as assigned.
  • Utilize the contract management system to develop various agreements, manage the agreement negotiation process, track agreement status, and provide alerts for upcoming agreement termination / renewal notifications.
  • Independently analyze most agreement drafts from external business partners to ensure agreement meets A&H contract wording; enlist review from senior team members as needed.
