Sr. Technical Executive - Data Centers

The Sr. Technical Executive Represents EPRI in visible and critical technical areas related to data centers.
Key Responsibilities and Requirements:
Oversees the work of other researchers in this area and represents EPRI both internally and externally.
Assumes responsibility for highly specialized technical objectives or problems where the relationships between cause and effect are difficult to establish and little or no precedence exists, and the use of creative and imaginative thinking is required.
Recognized as an expert in field of data centers and is involved in the research work of other public and private organizations in this field.
Expert at the intersection of data centers and energy, including supply, back-up power, and flexibility.
Maintains expertise by in-depth involvement in the state-of-the-art research and technology development in the field.
Designs and oversees research studies performed by EPRI that will advance the state-of-knowledge in the field and have acknowledged impact to members and society.
Additional Requirements:
Supports EPRI Sector Leadership and sales team in representing EPRI and establishing EPRI’s technical credentials and leadership.
Pursues and secures funding for needed research to meet customer/industry needs and leads/executes upon work once projects are secured.
Contributes to multiple projects within and across sector on whatever basis necessary for effective utilization of expertise.
Interacts with EPRI leaders to develop EPRI’s position in the field; consults with leaders in customer organizations to assist in their strategy development relating to field of expertise.
Functions as the EPRI expert in data centers, demonstrating leadership and knowledge as the external face to EPRI’s work in this area. Includes capably representing EPRI in the c-suite, board room, highest level of government organizations, hyperscalers, data center developers and other key stakeholders.
May lead a small cross-sector team of capable junior and senior technical staff members and advises/mentors developing technical staff, with or without direct management responsibility.
Coaches and mentors internal staff in associated technical areas of expertise.
Experience & Skills:
Minimum 7-10 years’ experience in the data center industry with developers, hyperscalers, or other related stakeholders.
Demonstrated knowledge of electrical energy infrastructure through direct industry experience or as part of data center work experience.
Deep understanding of energy industry issues and the role of R&D in meeting associated challenges.
Leadership capabilities that contribute to high value teaming.
Exceptional interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
Expert presentation development and delivery skills.
Strong business development skills.
Education:
MS or PhD in related technical or scientific field or equivalent experience required.
