Make your impact within a rapidly growing Fintech Company

We are seeking an experienced fintech Sr Manager, Revenue Accountant to join our team. The revenue accounting team oversees approximately $1.3B+ of revenue, $0.4B of expenses, $0.8B of assets, and $0.3B of liabilities. This role will be within the revenue accounting team and will oversee a portion of the revenue, expenses, assets and liabilities managed by the revenue accounting team. This role will involve cross-functional collaboration with teams outside of accounting. This role is critical in ensuring accurate and compliant financial reporting related to BILL products. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting operations, a track record of building out new processes, a strong ability to perform technical accounting assessments and developing individuals. This role reports directly to the Director of Revenue. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Guide, mentor and manage team members
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP requirements and SOX controls
  • Drive continuous scalability, automation and efficiency through collaboration with our finance systems and accounting transformation teams
  • Develop and maintain strong collaborative working relationships with other departments, such as Customer Success, Legal, Product, Sales, FP&A, Accounting, Treasury and Tax
  • Provide input on structuring customer and partner arrangements
  • Review customer and partner arrangements for proper revenue recognition in accordance with company policy and accounting standards
  • Stay current on new revenue accounting rules, including ASC 606, and oversee the drafting of policies and technical accounting memos
  • Review revenue and other balance sheet account reconciliations and approve journal entries, as needed
  • Ensure the integrity of key processes by understanding systems, flow of transactions, internal controls, and recommending efficiency improvements
  • Liaison with external and internal auditors, along with supporting documentation for the quarterly reviews and year-end audits

We’d love to chat if you have:

  • Experience managing and developing individuals with an ability to influence, train, mentor and leverage the skills of others to achieve objectives
  • Experience in the payments technology industry
  • 6+ years of experience in a combination of public accounting (top tier) and publicly traded company with heavy involvement in auditing and performing SOX controls
  • Polished communication skills, including an ability to listen to the needs of the business units, research and comprehend complex matters, articulate issues in a clear and simplified manner, and present findings and recommendations in both oral and written presentations
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field
  • Strong background in accounting operations and/or technical accounting.
  • Track record of building out new processes.
  • Experience in cross-functional collaboration.
  • The ability to deal with rapidly changing internal and external environments
  • Ability to simultaneously manage multiple projects, priorities and complete objectives on time

The estimated salary  range for this role is noted below for our San Jose based role.  Our ranges for each role and job level are based on a variety of factors including candidate experience, expertise, and geographic location and may vary from the amounts listed above. The role is also eligible for a competitive benefits package that includes: medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurance, 401(k) retirement plan, flexible spending & health savings account, paid holidays, paid time off, and other company benefits.

San Jose pay range$150,800—$188,200 USD
