About the Team:
The CLEP technology team builds user-friendly, scalable, well-engineered software solutions to support the College Level Examination Program (CLEP). The CLEP test-taker and educator are at the center of everything we do. Our engineers believe in creating an environment in which we value creativity while supporting each other in building expertise on the latest full-stack technologies. As a distributed team, we are strong advocates of work/life balance and flexibility with schedules when needed. Our team members participate in all aspects of software engineering, engaging in pair programming or mob programming where appropriate, and all team members participate in writing test automation scripts to test each other’s code.
About the Opportunity:
As a Senior Engineer, you are a poly-skilled technologist and problem solver. You possess extensive knowledge and expertise designing, implementing, and testing performant and resilient serverless apps in the cloud. You are communicative, approachable, self-driven and energized by collaboration with teammates and a desire to stay abreast of new technologies.
In this role, you will:
Design and implement, in collaboration with your team, data-intensive services and components with an emphasis on reusability, scalability, and security
Understand our users’ workflows and processes and use technology to help them solve problems
Think holistically and participate in conversations on proposed architecture, testing strategies, the developer experience, security, performance, and fault-tolerance
Collaborate with team members through code review, live online conversations, effective written communication, and pair or mob programming
Implement efficient, well-engineered code as well as test automation scripts in support of the team’s goal to automate all testing
Mentor and help junior engineers in their growth
About you, you have:
A minimum of 5 years of professional software development experience
Advanced experience working with Node.js, React, and noSQL databases in an AWS environment
Strong knowledge of the AWS cloud platform and experience working with AWS resources such as Lambda, SQS/SNS, S3, DynamoDB
Experience in hands-on development of software applications in a highly scaled environment
Experience working on Agile engineering teams
Willingness to work on test automation scripts and participate in mob programming sessions and code reviews
Ability to quickly learn new technologies and discover innovative and efficient solutions
