A DAY IN THE LIFE:

Working closely with the Human Resources team, the Sr. Benefits Analyst II supports all company-wide health and welfare benefit plans and programs; domestic and internationally. Partnering closely with the Manager, Benefits, this role will be responsible for evaluating, administering and maintaining the Company’s self-funded health plans.

  • Reviews and analyzes benefit plan renewals and assesses recommendations such as stop loss insurance, fees and the pharmacy benefit manager (PBM).
  • Monitors claims experience throughout the year in preparation for annual renewal of all benefits.
  • Prepares monthly aggregated reporting for broker on enrollment details, and fees and claims paid. Provides Finance team with similar reporting upon request.
  • Manages the completion of claims audits every three years or as needed.
  • Responsible for annual Affordable Care Act (ACA) reporting of Tandem’s health plans and health coverage. Ensures accurate and timely reporting is conducted to meet IRS requirements.
  • Manages responsibilities associated with plan compliance and plan audit requirements with brokers/vendors, legislative, and regulatory compliance agencies
  • Partners with the HR Benefits team and broker to ensure all benefit plan documents, summary plan descriptions, information brochures, and related materials are accurate, current and communicated on time for all benefits programs.
  • Leads all plan audits, statutory filings, and discrimination testing with Plan Administrator. Ensures timely completion and submission of required reports and contracts, such as annual Form 5500, Non-Discrimination Testing (semi-annual) and Summary Annual Report.
  • Participates in and provides insights and recommendations toward the development, design, implementation and communication of all employee benefit programs, including annual benefits renewal processes with broker and open enrollment program for employees.
  • Leads in the planning and execution of benefits education activities and events, including but not limited to education sessions, email/newsletter correspondence, and knowledge base articles.
  • Works closely with broker to conduct required trainings on HIPAA policies.
  • Maintains employee benefit enrollment data within HRIS/benefits system; uploads benefit deduction data into HRIS as needed; audits benefit deductions and outbound benefit contributions to ensure accuracy with payroll processing (i.e. 401k, FSA, HSA).
  • Monitors weekly error reports from carriers, interfacing with carrier and system contacts to resolve enrollment data issues.
  • Conducts monthly billing reconciliation of all benefits plans to ensure appropriate billing per carrier contracts. Independently researches and investigates complex billing issues with insurance carrier/vendors.
  • Maintains new hire benefits onboarding training and off boarding activities regarding separations and end of coverage/COBRA information.
  • Introduces efficient and effective ways to address benefit questions and concerns. Works with broker team to address employee issues and leverages internal systems/technology to support employee benefit inquiries and employee self-service.
  • Responsible for all COBRA and Flex Plan programs/processes via third party administrator(s).
  • Provides guidance and assistance with leave programs including CFRA/FMLA/STD/LTD in accordance with State and Federal laws.
  • Oversees a collection of projects to ensure they align with the department’s responsibilities sand goals.
  • Ensures work is performed in compliance with company policies including Privacy/HIPAA and other regulatory, legal, and safety requirements.

YOU’RE AWESOME AT:

  • Strong knowledge with COBRA, ERISA, HIPAA and FMLA/CFRA and related state and federal regulations.
  • Experience administrating self-funded health plans preferred.
  • Strong computer skills with emphasis on reporting, experience with MS Office and Internet, with a high proficiency in Excel.
  • Strong technical, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to effectively communicate with all levels of employees. Strong presentation skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple and competing priorities.
  • Strong attention to detail as well as critical thinking skills.
  • Able to work effectively in a team environment.

EXTRA AWESOME:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and applicable job experience.
  • HR Certificate preferred.
  • 7-8 years’ relevant benefits administration experience.
  • Experience with benefits administration and with ERISA, COBRA, HIPAA, FMLA/CFRA, and other related state and federal regulations.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:

The starting base pay range for this position is $105,300.00 - $131,800.00 annually. Base pay will vary based on job-related knowledge, skills, experience and may also fluctuate depending on candidate’s location and the overall job market. In addition to base pay, Tandem offers a competitive compensation package that includes bonus, equity, and a robust benefits package.
