Lead and manage all aspects of highly complex information technology (IT) products and technical initiatives.  Leading an agile team of engineers/developers, establish goals, metrics, determine future opportunities for change/improvements and provide training opportunities for developers. Manage budgets. Drive the development of policies, procedures, standards and controls. Partner with product development and support in partnership with business stakeholders.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES:

  • Leads and manages agile teams to delivery technology solutions; identifies and resolves technical, operational, and organizational problems 
  • Mentor associates within the department and continually develop team competencies 
  • Develop and maintain effective product and business relationships, coordinating service delivery in line with negotiated Service Commitments. 
  • Manage the application portfolio by partnering with product and business, understanding and communicating needs to internal IT teams and external vendors 
  • Operate in an agile disposition to collaborate with product and business partners to ensure properly defined and communicated request and execution
  • Duties include hiring, training, evaluating, coaching, direct reports.
  • Maintain current knowledge of industry practices, trends and applications. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned. 

EDUCATION:
Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Arts/Sciences (BA/BS) or equivalent experience 

Preferred:

  • Master’s degree in Arts/Sciences (MA/MS) 
  • Agile Certification: Agile Boot Camp, Scrum Master, or Product Owner Certification 

EXPERIENCE:
Required:

  • 9+ years experience in agile development, programming, or systems analysis. 
  • 3+ years leading agile development teams 
  • 2+ years people management experience 

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Required:

  • Highly advanced agile delivery and systems analysis skills.  Demonstrates ability to evaluate project objectives and scope, analyzes objectives for feasibility, and gain business understanding. 
  • Advanced oral and written communication skills, demonstrating the ability to convey business terminology that is meaningful and well received by the customer. 
  • Highly advanced people management skills, demonstrating an ability to lead, mentor and develop associates.  Advanced interpersonal skills, demonstrating the ability to lead and mentor support staff. 
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills. Ability to manage multiple projects and/or sub-teams simultaneously, including the ability to delegate key areas of responsibility. Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills. 
  • Insurance and/or reinsurance industry knowledge. 
  • Application Portfolio management experience. 
  • Knowledge of modern programming languages 
  • Knowledge of Agile methodologies 
  • IT Infrastructure 
  • Data strategy and management

Compensation Range:

$104,350.00 - $155,350.00 Annual

Base pay varies depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience and market location. In addition, RGA provides an annual bonus plan that includes all roles and some positions are eligible for participation in our long-term equity incentive plan. RGA also maintains a full range of health, retirement, and other employee benefits.
