The Red Hat Engineering team is looking for a highly motivated and skilled Software Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will contribute to one of our most important and innovative projects: Red Hat Hybrid Cloud Console (HCC), which is the customer-facing platform for most of Red Hat’s managed cloud services. As a member of the organization, you will serve as a developer contributing towards solutions, tooling, and systems that enable console.redhat.com to become FedRAMP High compliant. As a developer on the team, you’ll write code, review pull requests and fix bugs all within an agile environment. The ideal candidate is friendly, collaborative and passionate about working with others to achieve success. To be successful, you will need to learn new technologies, automate as much as you can, dive into unknown and ambiguous spaces and explore the depths of cloud security and reliability.

The Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program (FedRAMP) is a U.S. government-wide program that delivers a standard approach to the security assessment, authorization, and continuous monitoring for cloud products and services. Achieving FedRAMP High compliance for Red Hat cloud services enables Red Hat to sell authorized services to the U.S. Federal Government, other government and public sector customers, and any commercial customer that wishes to build their own service on a FedRAMP High authorized platform environment. ROSA plans to meet FedRAMP risk management and security requirements at the high-level impact. NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration) is the government agency sponsoring ROSA for FedRAMP High. NOAA requested that Red Hat Insights and console.redhat.com also meet FedRAMP High compliance. 

What you will do

  • Develop, maintain and scale out the ConsoleDot FedRAMP environments

  • Design and implement systems, tools and processes to improve the security posture of console.redhat.com

  • Participate in product release cycles, deploying code to integration, staging and production environments, integrating with CI/CD tooling

  • Develop automation to streamline the onboarding of new Red Hat service teams that want to be included in the ConsoleDot FedRAMP offering

  • Regularly participate in team demos and check-ins with Product Management to align on use-cases and plan new initiatives

What you will bring

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, or a technology-related discipline

  • US Citizenship for FedRamp

  • Experience in software development and engineering

  • Experience with one or more programming languages; Python is preferred, though experience in other languages such as Golang, Java, C++ are a plus.

  • Ability to productively collaborate across roles, team and organizational boundaries, defining, scoping and pitching technical solutions

  • Ideally able to work Hybrid out of Raleigh NC

  • Experience with agile and comfortable with rapid iteration and fast delivery

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English

  • Interest in the cloud security space

Experience with the following are considered a plus:

  • Working in a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) environment

  • Developing, deploying and operating microservices

  • Linux containers

  • OpenShift by Red Hat

  • Open source software

  • UI experience with Typescript and ReactJS

The salary range for this position is $94,550.00 - $151,170.00. Actual offer will be based on your qualifications.

Pay Transparency

Red Hat determines compensation based on several factors including but not limited to job location, experience, applicable skills and training, external market value, and internal pay equity. Annual salary is one component of Red Hat’s compensation package. This position may also be eligible for bonus, commission, and/or equity. For positions with Remote-US locations, the actual salary range for the position may differ based on location but will be commensurate with job duties and relevant work experience.
